"This Generation" change -- fallout evidence?
by reagan_oconnor ini was reading the recent posts on 2034 and was wondering... .
the 1975 debacle left the fds scrambling for explanations for the mass exodus of r&f who were disillusioned by their bs.
the pat answer has always been, "those people didn't keep pace with god's chariot" and they weren't "strong in the truth" and allowed something so "minor" to "stumble" them.

This was definitely the beginning of the end for me even though I still go to meetings, trying to fade but difficult with so many family in. Anyway, years prior to 1995, my "apostate" dad had told me that if they ever did away with the 1914 generation thing, it would be the end. A domino effect since so much hinged on 1914. At the time I was still a loyal dub and dismissed what he was saying but when they came out with this "new light" a lightbulb went off in my head. Couple that with access to the internet and then reading CofC it was all over for me. I just wish that I could muster up the strength to tell the family that I'm done. I feel like I've wasted the past 10 years pretending, spending 5 hours a week at meetingsand assemblies that make me want to puke.

Did society go against Jehovah's will?
by TweetieBird infor decades it was always stressed (especially in one of the pubs that came out in the 70's, i think the one about the thousand years) that one of the signs of the beginning of the great tribulation would be when they started taxing religion.
in another thread we were directed to http://www.bibletopics.com/biblestudy/84a.htm about the society going to court to support jimmy swaggert.
it seems to me that maybe the society was running ahead of jehovah by doing so, and the organization started on a downward spiral since then, ultimately slapping jehovah in the face by going to bed with the un.

Yes, but don't you know that Jehovah refined and cleansed the organization? That's why the brothers went to prison in 1919, as a refining process so from 1919 forward Jehovah's spirit would have been on the organization, right??? At least that is what most dubs would think.

Hi dfd, At our district convention this past weekend there was someone holding up a banner, www.jwfreedom.com. I checked out their site and they have meetups each month for people that have left or been kicked out of the org. Check them out, they might have a group near your area.

would dubs ever go into field service if there was no record-keeping?
by zagor indo you think that any dub would ever go into field service if they didnt have to record hours of service?
i dont believe it at all.
in fact, you could see that everything they do is because there is some sort of record keeping behind it, i.e.

Counting time is a good way to gauge a brother's spiritual maturity. If he put's in 10+ hours a month, attends every meeting, answers at every meeting and buddies up to the other elders (as in having them over for bbq & beer) then he's definitely considered for ms. Notice that I said, counting time, not actually going out in service. That was the case with several that I have known in the past, but I do agree with Fairmind that there are many sincere dubs that would still go out for love of Jehovah.

At last finished reading Crisis of Conscience
by diamondblue1974 in.
and what an eye opener it was...dont get me wrong i faded some 10 years ago and the reasons for such were contained in the book, i.e 1914, failed prophecies and so forth.. the expose is disarming by its objective style and whilst i now read any literature through sceptical eyes i could see a person genuinely grieved by what had taken place and the crisis he was subjected to conscientiously; it said it all to me when he said that his aim was not to divert people from the jws but give them support so they could develop as christians and therefore allow them to come to their own conclusions (or words to that effect).. extremely well written and consise with reams of references (which i happen to love).. anyone that is recently out must read this book...it objective, honest and was totally surprising in parts.. db74

Just curious, does anyone know how many copies of "Crisis of Conscience" have been sold? I remember my dad read it back in the 80's and soon after disassociated himself. I know of a sister that read it and she said that it didn't change her feelings about the organization at all. I read it and have never been the same.
