  my wife and i have been witnesses for almost 50 years.

  we are both third generation witnesses and raised in the "lie".

  we raised our kids in it also.

  Welcome to the board! I loved reading your colorful experience.

  Don't give up on your children that are still in. My dad disassociated himself and tried to get the rest of the family out. It took me about 10 years for some of the things he said to me to sink in. I wish it had sunk in earlier but I am a bit of a hard-head. One of the things that did stick was that someday the society would have to drop the 1914 doctrine (lie) and that would cause a domino effect since everything hinged on 1914. It didn't mean much to me at the time until the "new light" came out about 1914. Lightbulbs started going off in my head.

  Be patient with them, if you think they would read a letter from you, maybe put in writing why you now see things differently. Our brains are like computers, we have the ability to store bits of information and sometimes that information comes pounding to the forefront and tells us that something is just not right.

  Oh no!Who will study with me?!

  i'm a little frightened after reading one of the study articles in the feb.1st watchtower.. what well meaning individuals will be fighting to study with me when they read the second study article?who will help such a weak one as me build up faith and appreciation?oh yeah,and can they count their time?after all,i am baptised.. maybe i will start knocking on jw's doors and say,"hi,i realise that you are an active member of the jw organisation,but i am here to welcome you into the inactive flock.i am willing to study with you,so you can appreciate how you have been mislead for so many years.

  seriously though,i will have to start screening my calls and not answering my door(better yet,i will just let my dogs out).after 4 years of people not caring,now that they are told to,they will come in droves!

  This is so hysterical. I'm at work (I work out of someone's house) and the doorbell rings. I'm the only one here right now as the people I work for are out of town. Guess who it is? Not only is it a JW but a relative of mine. She didn't know I worked out of a home so I showed her in and showed her my office.

  I come back into my office after she is gone and realize that my computer screen is on this website. I didn't bother to minimize because I thought it was the UPS man. I don't know if she noticed, if she did then I am definitely busted.

  Why Do Inactive Ones Regularly Go To Assemblies?

  i never could understand why people that never go to meetings, suddenly show up at circuit assemblies or district conventions.

  Speaking from experience, we went to part of the summer convention due to pressure from family members. For me, I don't want my mom to find out that I am inactive so I went so that I could tell her that I went. However, I WON'T be going this coming year, a person can only stand so much pain and it was definitely painful.

  That is also why we went to the memorial.

  Just got a great xmas present

  i came to work this morning and my boss handed me an envelope with the following in it:.

  free weekend at a local resort to include a massage for hubby and me, free booze, a massage for both of us, dinner and a movie.. i was so excited that i just had to share it with someone and since all of my family are jw's (except for 1 apostate brother whom i dearly love), i just had to share this with all of you, my extended apostate family.. ain't life grand!

  I came to work this morning and my boss handed me an envelope with the following in it:

  unknown to me disassociation

  i am new to all of this, even tho i have not been going to the meetings for nearly 4 years now, through the basic hypocrisy that i faced and the witch hunt i have had to put up with over the last few years.

  because i dare to expose the bent dealings of a car salesmen, who happened to be a p>o> i tried to ignore all of this and thought let them get on with it.

  my wife continued going to the meetings, and was shunned the whole 4 years, despite both of us being very active members of the cong.

  Welcome to the Board

  You mentioned that you felt disloyal to Jehovah by exposing the organization. I think most of us here felt that way at first, especially those that were raised in it or spent several years of their life being brainwashed.

  I felt that way until I read Crisis of Conscience, and then being on forums like this one. Little by little I started thinking that the Creator was never involved with the organization, but what clinched it for me was when I found out about their 9-year affiliation with the UN. At that point I realized that even if HE had, he definitely did not anymore.

  Once you allow yourself to start examining your own religion (something we encouraged the "worldy people" to do) but not allowed to do ourselves, you really see the organization for what it is, a lucrative business.

  They don't know we left

  our first congregation is about 350 miles and we moved to a new one 8 years ago.

  we kept in touch with the people that brought us in the truff over the years.

  like there was some special bonding.. we disassociated here in aug, i guess it was announced in sept. we thought that word would travel and our old congregation would get the news.

  I think that I would probably send them a nice letter, updating them on family things, etc. and then casually mention to them that you really do not know who the CO is as you have not been to a meeting in a while. You can either leave it at that and let them question you further, opening the door to some future conversations about why you left, or you can subtly bring out the UN thing, pedophile thing or whatever it was that soured you on the organization.

  If you send a Christmas card, they will automatically know something is up and probably throw it in the trash.

  I guess it depends on if you want the relationship to continue or not.

  Since they are responsible for you becoming witnesses, you might start out by telling them the things that attracted you to the witnesses, but that over time, it just wasn't what was originally presented to you.

  there are some interesting views especially about the demise of the organisation.. i can't help feeling that there is a guru-esque style about it but i found it interesting.. anyone else?

  I browsed the website briefly, is this guy for or against the WTS? He seems to speak out of both sides of the mouth.

  If he is for the WTS - he is running ahead of Jehovah, a real no-no with the borg.

  If he is against it, then he is one clever fellow as he makes it look like he is defending the society, while exposing them.

  Let's watch Lifetime! Sex is overrated. I don't want to go too far on the first date. Yes, I did notice your sister's breasts are bigger than yours. There is nothing I like better than crawling into bed with a good book. I'm glad I don't have a large penis. My hips are too big. Aw, can't we watch Oprah? Does this suit make me look fat? I'll never get tired listening to Celine Dion.

  Paul McCartney back in the U.S.

  last night i watched paul mccartney on satilite,on tour.that dude can still rock.his volume of work over the decades still stands up today.

  that man can put on a show,and thats a fact.his band all,younger guys were just incredible.his drummer was awesome,i haven`t seen a drummer that good since last year,when i saw john fogerty,former singer/writer of credence clearwater revival.john`s drummer was mezmerizing..did anyone else catch pauls concert last night?...outlaw edited by - outlaw on 28 november 2002 13:17:29.
