I've been fading for 10 years or more. Even living in a different area than family is hard because when they come to visit, they want to go to meetings. If you haven't been to the hall for a while you're found out when nobody in the hall knows who you are. Fortunately, my husband and kids do not believe the bs anymore so if the rest of the family disowns us, so be it. I'm tired of playing the game.

can you really ever fade with immediate family still in?
by oompa ini am beginning to think not....elders still want to call on me rather than befriend me in any way.....and with a "good" wife and son and parents in, it seems like i still have one foot in only because of the overlap with my other "free" self........it is hard to really feel free in this situation, and is still have desire to just run the fluck away.....which would mean pretty much giving up my family in nearly every respect.
some here really miss their family and wife, others so love the freedom they seem able to move on and start fresh....as you know, i dont seem to have the balls for that, and at this point in my life the price seems to high to fully start over........it is the "one in one out limbo dance"......oompa.

Please nominate your favourite film and say why you rate it so highly.
by lifelong humanist ini've just watched all 3 parts of francis ford coppola's epic godfather once again.
it is a superb achievement on many levels.
each viewing reveals something new and fresh.. i recall, as a good jw at the time, not seeing it when released as it was not certified as 'suitable' given the content for jws.

You're Not the Only One Whose Made Mistakes.....
by AllTimeJeff inone of my favorite singers is billy joel, and his song, "you're only human" has one key verse that is as good as anything solomon ever put up for public consumption.. "you're not the only one whose made mistakes.
but they're the only things, that you can truly call your own".
one of the key (almost obsessive) focuses of jehovah's witnesses is sin.

Great post, ATJ. I am dealing with a situation involving one of my (believing JW) friends who's on a path toward personal happiness but will probably get herself df'd in the process. She's riddled with guilt and having a really difficult time. I want to scream out that it's all BS but not sure if she will pursue her own happiness or get sucked back into the cult so I have to walk a fine line.

Need newest updated info on societys view of Disfellowshiped one
by annalice ini have heard from a friend that this most recent assembly had a new publication released that has some info in it discussing the treatment of disfellowshipped ones.
i know that a new song book was issued out but had not heard of anyother new publications.
at this time what is the society telling their flock to do pertaining to those disfellowshipped ones.

The first sentence of that article chaps my arse. First of all, while unrepentant ones are disfellowshipped, I know of several people that have gone to the brothers to confess their sins because they feel bad about what they did and are also disfellowshipped. The whole thing is whacked.

Is the Governing Body the Only Channel of Communication between God and Men?
by UnDisfellowshipped inlet's take my questions one at a time (since you said i had posted too many on my other thread):.
* can you please explain to me, using only the bible, why anyone should believe that today's governing body of jehovah's witnesses (or the "faithful slave class" of the jehovah's witnesses), is the "sole channel of communication" between god and men?.
* in addition, can you explain why we should believe that christ's parable of the "faithful and discreet slave" was predicting a "class" of anointed christians who would give orders to all other christians, instead of simply teaching that faithful christians will be rewarded by christ when he returns?.

I've posed this same question to my die-hard pioneer MIL and cannot get her to give me an answer based on the bible. She will spout off the answer that comes from a magazine but when pressed to use JUST scriptures from the bible, it can't be done.
I asked her one time how we know that the Christian Greek scriptures are meant for the anointed only and she could not answer that one either, which goes along with Jesus not being the mediator for all mankind but just the anointed. I always found that one very hard to swallow.
