  Do you detect an underlying sadness ?

  whenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.

  Yes, defenetively !

  In my cong, there are a bunch of depressed sisters. They usually have some sad story to tell, specially the ones they are pioneers...

  (" poor me I don't have $ because I pioneer... - poor me , my car brocked down and I don't have any $.. - poor me I am sick... )

  I think they envy the ones that they have a life and laugh, have a decent car, or house or education...

  3rdgen, yes, you are right... they gossip about the ones that we have some fun, or make judgments about it.. specially the hard workers self rightouse ones. I think inside they are just miserable and they dont' want to see it.

  just got back from meeting.

  the study today was as expected.

  a combination of simple acceptance, formulaic research and mistakes.. there are clearly many who cannot read a reference (to the wt 95) regarding the sheep and the goats and consider the repetition of the the understanding of the timing of the judging as new light.

  a good friend of mine invited me to a party after her meeting on sunday.

  i told her i was not going any longer and she doesn't care.

  she also let us know that no other witnesses would be there.

  I'm not going back...finally

  it has been several years since my awakening.

  since then i have stopped pioneering, stopped doing temp work at bethel, stopped field service (at the most, i went out a few hours a month for the last couple of months), my meeting attendance has been around 50 percent or so.

  i have decided not to go back.

  Former Unbaptized Publisher, New Here

  former unbaptized publisher, here.. i'm new to the forums and have hesitated for months to join this forum.

  i was raised in a jw family, and was never baptized, because one of my parents didn't think i should be baptized early.. my mother became inactive, but i eventually went back for social contact, eventually starting a study.

  i raised a few questions, only to find that the conductor would get irritated and defensive when my questions would get deeper into the topic.

  Welcome GloomySunday ! My way of thinking was almost like yours. Something doesn't feel right. the rulled of not having "wordly friends" is just nor right

  That leaded me to depression. But I found my way out of that dark moments with education !!

  JWs Lack of Love and Feelings

  i have noticed the extreme lack of love in this group of people who preach love, love, love.. we recently had serious floods come through our area and the jws couldnt have cared less.

  our 'worldly' friends did sooo much for us though.

  raising money, giving gifts, cards, accomodation and so much support and hard work.. i personally think jws are one of the most insensitive, uncaring religions around.. three religious groups were absolutely wonderful during the flooding of our area.

  It's so sad to hear all the unloving stories here .

  Ya, I also think that visiting or calling someone in the hall doesn't count in your field service report, so, we don't have to do it...too sad..

  Years ago, I told to a group of JW how " nervouse -stressed I was because my father just got a organ tranplant 2 days ago " and nobody said

  nothing. It was like I said " the sky is blue "- like I talked to a wall... .

  The CO asked for money tonight at the meeting.

  i was shocked i do not know why as i have read that the co's were doing this but to hear it with my own ears was unbelievable.

  i do not go to the meetings but my husband still does and this week is the co's visit.

  i decided that i would listen in to his talk; i swear i have lost some brain cells by doing it but anywho.. he started out by talking about the old story that has been in the wt many times about a little boy who was seven and raised a chicken and gave the money to the society.

  Life is to sort : last visit we had of the CO was about donations as well... I was surprised how much of his talk was dedicated

  to that subjet.. I was thinking : "they did not get enough with the REal State sell in NYC " ??

  Petra/Vulcan/-Just coffee talk!

  i thought i might take a few minutes to sit down with the members here and have a cup of coffee with you, and introduce myself and my daughter debbie (petra), and i am john posting as (vulcan).

  now i can't type worth anything so thats why i have petra do it.-we would like to thank mr. simon for his hospitality and if it is easier for us to post using the login atlantis uses, then that is ok!

  there are 4 of us here using the same computer and it might be easier that way to keep track.
