I reacted/posted about the two quotes as I have not reacted...
So let me get this straight...Your REACTION to their thoughts on the thread was NOT a reaction...but rather a REACTION. Are you perhaps an eldurr? Or are you a politician?

How are you judging my reaction?
Perhaps the same way YOU are judging their proper reactions?
.45 ACP with a CWP. They had better be sure I stay down, permanently, if they ever target me! I refuse to be a victim.
i know this has been dished over before, but when i was doing some research i discovered a couple of interesting points.
as far as i can find, there is only one wt article that implies that jw men should not have beards.

Papua New Guinea (a country in which I recently lived for a total of eight years, and thus had ample opportunity in which to observe 1. what is local custom, and 2. what the WTS stand was.)
according to the WT$ local customs are to be ignored by anyone who is a "christian", as quoted in the 09/15/2013 WT:
But does this mean that as long as long as there is no clearly stated law from God, we can just follow the ways and standards that we are brought up with and that are common in our area? There are at least two important reason why that is not so for Christians.
Emphasis mine. It has nothing to do with customs, or what people perceive that jw's preach at. It is all about CONTROL. How many hoops can we make you jump through? How high can we get you to jump? How much of what makes an individual unique can we stifle in the interest of uniformity and sameness?

Van Amburgh's mustache would have gotten him a back room meeting in my town. I know I got chastised for mine being wider than my mouth, and being longer than the top of my upper lip. I guess a "Hitler" 'stache would have been appropriate?
the nov 2013 km contains an article that is ridiculous in its level of minutae.. they focus on the word "because".
they tell jws to use the word "because" when explaining why they're at the homeowner's door.
writing department, you wrote an article on the use of the word "because"?
not once did I ever use a suggested presentation as I was and always have been much more intellectually advanced than the outline provided
In the town where I live there is a pretty much half-witted MS who thinks he is getting brownie points or something by making stacks of photocopied KM presentations. Good lord, doesn't he think that if someone wanted to carry the talking orders around they could take it from their own KM? Of course he figures and salivates over every last word from "the slave."
this week's service meeting had another part about women wearing head coverings.there's already been a post about it, but i would like some thoughts from the forum on the scripture referenced.
11: 3-10. i want to focus on verses 4-6. it says this (nnwt):.
"4)every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head shames his head; 5) but every woman who prays or prophesies+ with her head uncovered shames her head, for it is one and the same as if she were a woman with a shaved head.
Was this meant to be taken literal???...
Well if it were to be taken literally, then why not take verse 15 literally?
15 but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her hair is given to her instead of a covering .
If they want a hat, or whatever because of the earlier verses, then this would be saying that a womans hair is the covering. They cannot have it both ways!
because the gb say so, and they are guided by hs.. anyother offers from the brochure?

BECAUSE
If we didn't dress up it would make Jehovah sad. Our worship depends on WHAT we wear...not what is in our hearts!
i have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.
Years ago a serious injury required surgery. As a result I was in a neck brace/collar for nearly three months. As such I could not move my head or neck, could not shave...even if I had wanted to. Guess what? Two weeks after my surgery one of the eldurrs made a point to "lovingly" chastise me for having facial hair and showing disrespect for Jehovah's house by attending a meeting with...a...GASP!...BEARD! There, "must be someway brother that you can manage to ignore the surgeon's instructions and remove the brace to properly scrape the hair off your face. You don't want to stumble someone do you?"
