If you have been inactive for over a year can you get disfellowshipped?
by cognac ini've read conflicting things so was hoping to get this clarified.. .

the accused stayed all night in the same house with a person of the opposite sex (or in the same house with a known homosexual ) under improper circumstances, is acceptable. (Elders manual) not a single scripture, no 2 witnesses, assumes fornication/adultery happens only at night)
What is even more screwed up is that IF the lights are on in general day use areas of the house for the entire night they will not presume that sex happened. I know this first hand.
I remember the old joke that the only sex approved by the GB is Friday night, after the meeting, in the dark, using no hands, and only missionary position. Sadly way to many jdubs feel that same way!

Its been said here many times before, you can be disfellowshipped for anything three elders agree upon.
True. Even more disgusting is the fact one can be DF'd for anything that TWO eldurrs can agree on, because they will browbeat the weakest of the three into submission to their preconcieved agenda. And simply being inactive for a year or more will not be any different to the blank-eyed, slack-jawed, drooling JW drones either. While perhaps not in any official writings, inactive ones are to be treated the same as, if not even worse than, DF'd ones. At least when I was still on friendly terms with some of the higher ups that was what I was told when I started dating a wonderful though inactive woman.

Will We See The Molester Issue Response In The KM?
by metatron inif a householder says, "your organization protects child molesters" , you might respond with.......... at some point, if this current wave of lawsuits continues, will they ever officially address it as an objection in the door to door work?.

No.
It'll never happen. All they will do is trot out some line like they always do, "The world tries to spread "false" stories about us poor, misunderstood, persecuted, JW's because we are the only ones who even know what a bible is. And besides we have the troof. That is why the mean old world is spreading lies about our "glorious ones'.

New Article on BEARDS and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.

26 “‘You must eat nothing containing blood.+ “‘You must not look for omens or practice magic.+
27 “‘You must not shave* the hair on the side of your head* or disfigure the edges of your beard.+
I can hardly wait to use these verses with a few JW's. I will say, "Isn't it shameful how some religions pick and choose what commands found in the Bible they will choose to obey? For instance, can you imagine the hypocrisy of a professed Christian growing long hair and a beard because the Mosaic law said not to shave, and then turning around and getting a transfusion during surgery?"
Of course being the good dubs they are they will quickly agree. Then I can ask them, "So what is the difference in reversing the commands YOU enforce?"

Why No Disfellowshipping Before 1952?
by blondie inwhy was there no official arrangement before 1952 to disfellowship people?
was there a different procedure with a different name?
was no one committing disfellowshipping offenses?

And the current attitude about disfellowshipping is plain from the comment one of the super-eldurrs yapped on about last night for the bible highlights.
"Deut. 13; 6-9 states that anyone who was a false prophet should be stoned to death. They should be killed! Today we can't kill apostates, but we can at least disfellowship them!"
The chowder-head actually had a tone of sorrow when he said, "we cannot kill", but seemed pretty happified that they could disfellowship someone.

new assembly experience... what do you reckon to this one?
by purrpurr inok so aparently there was this young girl who wanted to study with the jw's because she loved the bible so much.
she asked her fathers permission but he refused, after much nagging though he said she could have a study if she was prepared to have one of her fingers chopped off.
he thought the is would stop her but she was willing so he got a knife and cut off one of her fingers... a little while later she wanted to attend the meetings and he said no and again when nagged said she could attend meetings if she had another finger chopped off so she agreed and he chopped off a second finger.

Like so many WT/JW "stories" they are always 3rd+ hand. No one ever saw it first hand.
That's a good one, although I know that isn't how it was intended.

I heard this BS story years ago. It was supposedly in Japan, and her father was in the Japanese mafia (Yakuza [sp.]) All reasearch I did then indicates that it was a pure, unadulterated, BS story. Like all the rest of the "experiences".

The Elders help
by punkofnice ina young jw i used to know (nice person), said within earshot to a non df'd ex jw he knew that his "..parents are up and down in the relationship and the elders(tm) are going to help.".
the non df'd ex jw said to me that he considered that after the elders(tm) get involved his parents were bound to split up.
the non df'd ex jw also commented: "what do elders know?

Elders advice for couples:
Pray more, study more, attend more meetings, go out in service more, together.
But together only means riding to the kingdum hall together. Once you are there you will be segregated. Men in one group, women in another. After all, everyone knows that group sex is going to happen if men and women are in a car group together!
