I'm glad I'm not the only one who's scared. The bombardment of our individual freedoms in the name of conservative values makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. It feels like something very bad is about to happen. Not to say that what has happened so far isn't bad enough.

I like the points you made about he media. I was watching the news last night and counted at least 4 pieces revolving around religion's involvement in politics. The conservative talk show hosts are constantly complaining about the liberal media but I don't see that. I see that the media is pandering to the political views of the party in power. Imagine that.

Whew! That was a lot of words. I was initially impressed with the observations of the writer about how the conservative movement got to this point but was bored to tears when I started hearing the tired old arguement that the "traditionalists" have the answer to the problems of our society or that they will be able to change the thinking of the general public.

I don't think this current movement to sway the minds of the public when it comes to values and ideology. I think they have made the progress they've made by a very coordinated and savvy political strategy. The comfort and apathy of our society has been sitting by watching with interest and some fear instead of working to counteract what is counter to their own values and ideas.

I do not fear the conservative movements ability to sway the thinking of the general public. I do fear the conservative movement's political prowess that is threatening the very freedoms that most Americans believe that our troops are currently fighting and dying to defend. By the time we realize what's really going on it may be too late to reverse the shift in power without a vigoruos fight involving bloodshed in our own country.

Yes, here in America we've seen some scary changes since Bush has been in office and the Republicans have won the Congress. Big Brother is getting bigger and the "religious right" have been flexing their newfound muscles but it does surprise me that they are meeting with very little resistance. Is the general public showing it's tacit approval?

I can remember standing during a convention and hearing thousands of the most conservative people singing at the top of their lungs about controlling body members. I always had a smile on my face. It still makes me giggle thinking about it. Actually, right now I'm laughing out loud.

I'm noticing on the talk radio stations that the "conservative" hosts have no problem inserting their religious beliefs in their opinions instead of a logic that applies to people of all religion. Since 9-11 I've seen ........... noticed that people are beginning to blame a specific religion or lack of a specific religion for our fears. I know that for those inside a religion like the Borg this kind of attitude is nothing new but on the news and in the mouths of the politicians there is a lot of issues that are really religious debates such as the Terry Shiavo thing or the Gay Marriage battle not to mention the current "Crusade" in the Middle East.

Am I just unrealisticly wishing that the rest of the world will wake up from their faith based coma?

Subliminal Drawings

hi, i'm new to the forum, have been reading as a guest, its good to know your not the only one going through so many complicated emotions, i'm not in a position to give any advice on how to get out of the borg as i'm not out yet due to 3 generations of family all whom are still devoted and having a hard time weighing up all the possiblities/outcomes of trying to get free, but at least my hubby of 19 years and i are on the same journey and have made sure that our kids are slowly reprogrammed to normal life.

having read all the ray franz, carl johnson books and gone through emotions of shock, anger and disbelief at the mind control we have been under when i always regarded myself as a fairly intelligent person, but when ordering a book on line about jehovahs witnesses and the problem of mental illness and getting a free book thrown in with it, titled jehovahs witnesses and the hour of darkness, with undeniable proof of the societys subliminal images in their supposedly beautiful drawings, wow what a shock to get out bookstudy books and see them everywhere, our kids can actually find them quicker than us, what more proof is their of dangerous mind control, for every meeting we still attend and most publications i look at, there they are, has anyone else read this book?

has this subject been discussed before?

The subliminal messages in the pictures are actually more obvious than what's shown in that website. The ones that have the most effect are the ones that show the women and children falling into cracks in the earth, the fear on their faces is really what has the most power and keeps them coming back.

Actually I think that the picket type sign is probably the least effective way to get the word out there. The JW hierarchy has already prepared the rank and file by telling them that apostates leave with a hatred for Jehovah and a picketer will only serve that illusion. A better way to reach hundreds would be to strategically place small flyers all over the convention. You could dress as a JW and walk in with a book bag and in minutes have them laying all over the floor, in bathroom stalls pasted on the walls. Now that would be fun. The flyers should reference websites like this one so that they could check them out in private. They shouldn't show any outright hatred for the society. They should be subtle and inquisitive.
