The Branch is not "de-facto" owner of all halls, it is the owner in deed. Anytime a remodel is done or a new hall build on land previously owned by a local congregation, the Branch is added as co owner on the tittle. Also direction is given to the CO that during his visits he is to inspect the documents related to hall ownership and ensure the Branch is listed. This had been going on for some time and document on this site. In melano Park the hall was old and never remodled, this the branch wasnt added on the tittle and it sparked the controversy. Sans that, there would have been no discussion.

Dont overlook a fact the US branch is well aware of:
numbers in the US are down. Way down. if you take the "foreign field" (non native english english speakers) out of the equation, the branch feels there is a net decrease of 5% in the last five years or average of one percent a year. From the horses mouth on that..... They know they are losing people and are ok with it as long as those that stay are ferverant worshippers

One thing about this site that bothers me
by keyser soze inthe constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

BETHELITES - Whatever Became of?
by Black Man ini often times wonder what happened to certain bethelites that i ran around with during my 1990s tenure there.
while there are still a few left there, the greater majority of them aren't there for various reasons (marriage, disillusionment, left the borg, etc).

Is this new donation arrangement for real?
by nugget injust read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.
