HOURGLASS!--What Do We Know About It?

a friend sent me the information listed below wanting to bring some attention to the website hourglass.. i myself know very little about the site other than the information i received today.

perhaps there are others here that could shed some light.. is this a dangerous site?

I'm not sure I agree with your point Anders (or more than likely I've misunderstood it):

1) As long as the congregations properly inform their victims where their data is stored, how, and why, gdpr is followed.
2) Compare this with web server providers: the providers are responsible for keeping any data stored with them safe, but they are not expected (or even allowed) to honor data removal requests for any of the websites their customers are running on their servers.

1) That's the point. The Rank & File have no idea that their data is stored this way! Even if you're an inactive JW then all your data is still on here!

2) What about all the DCMA notices that Google responds to? The former owner of AvoidJw.org was found out because both Google and GoDaddy ratted him out the moment WT complained to them.

4:9) the word “hospitality” in greek literally means “fondness for, or kindness to, strangers.” note, however, that peter urged his christian brothers and sisters to be hospitable “to one another,” to those whom they already knew and associated with.

Philóxenos by definition means love/fondness/affection for strangers (from the Greek word for love, Philía and the exact opposite of xenophobia) so of course this means you should be hospitable or kind to ALL.

The Bible also makes this point saying that if you are just kind to those you know then it’s no big deal (“even the nations do this” or words to that effect.)

Loved the wedding as a Brit plus I loved the looks on the faces of the old school folks as Bishop Michael gave a GREAT wedding talk, way better than anything JW Broadcasting can produce.

He said Jesus was the biggest revolutionary that ever lived as he preached God’s unconditional love for everyone, totally contrary to the Pharisees’ and WT’s teachings.

As for American’s interest in it, why not? Meghan Mariel has done more for US-UK relations than that idiot Trump could ever do.

suffice to say that i fundamentally disagree with the point of this article, a cynical attempt to boost numbers.

it goes against bible precedent and their own long standing practice.

they timothy as an example of a youthfull christian, a young man.. sure but he was not baptized young .

My mother told me if I was old enough to ask if I’d be destroyed at Armageddon for not being baptised, then I was already accountable to God. Seeing as the end of this system was coming before the year 2000 I got baptised as a child out of fear!

No. It’s done nationally and has been done so for some time now. It’s not just cleaning products but sound equipment too.

You should find the letter on avoidjw.org though the list of suppliers, products and prices is updated regularly.

Get baptised or die!

so it would seem that the wts are going back to their old scare tactics again, going by this week’s watchtower study.. loyal baptized ones will be preserved when the present wicked world meets its end.

One Christian mother stated, “I am ashamed to say that the major reason was the disfellowshipping arrangement.” Like that sister, some parents have reasoned that it is better for their child to postpone baptism until he has outgrown the childish tendency to behave foolishly...They may conclude, ‘As long as my child is not baptized, he cannot be disfellowshipped.’ Why is this deceptive reasoning?

13... However, it would be a mistake to conclude that by not being baptized, a child is not accountable to Jehovah. Why is that? Accountability to Jehovah is not founded on the act of getting baptized. Rather, a child is accountable to God when the child knows what is right and what is wrong in Jehovah’s eyes.

The paragraph that mentions the woman’s statement about why she didn’t want her daughter to get disfellowshipped says she was mistaken. The next paragraph then says because children are accountable to God whether baptised or not.

That has nothing to do with her statement. The child would still be accountable if they “sinned” whilst not baptised but at least her parents, family and friends would still be able to talk to her. So the mother was right whereas the WT states she was wrong and tries to deflect the attention away from her reasoning by talking about a completely different matter!

Also they admit that a child will behave foolishly yet they still claim a child can get baptised? Foolish indeed!
