Thanks Sparky, so that was after the ARC hearings so I guess it was sent out as they were in need of people to defend the Borg.
I wonder if something is stirring in Mexico then?
we all know how much the watchtower abhors "higher education" and that apparently jehovah thinks it is a big waste of time.
at least that is their official stance.
it might come as a shock to you that this month they have started a campaign drive to actually recruit jws who have higher education, specifically those who have legal training.. with all the law suits against them for creating an environment that is friendly to paedophiles, it is thus no wonder that they are in need of solicitors, especially those who are sympathetic towards the cult.. talk about hypocrisy!.

https://sputniknews.com/europe/201809211068220658-finland-jehovah-witnesses-army/.
the finnish government has ruled that the current law allowing jehovah's witnesses to avoid military service, in place for several decades, is discriminatory and contradicts the constitution.. .
in the future, finnish jehovah's witnesses* will be obliged to either serve in the nation's military or perform civil service on the same terms as everyone else, the government ruled, submitting a corresponding proposal to parliament, national broadcaster yle reported.. according to the 1987 law, jehovah's witnesses were not only freed from the military draft, they were freed of any obligation to perform community service as a pacifist alternative, a common option among other young people in finland.
or perform civil service on the same terms as everyone else
You mean that they didn't already? That's crazy!
I've never understood why someone wouldn't want to help their country out, nothing to do with nationalism, especially in time of war. I totally understand not fighting but can't get my head around not helping your fellow man via civil service.

I've not seen a copy in English from the UK or Spain yet.

The original letter (in Spanish as it is from the Mexico branch) and survey form can be downloaded here (link valid for 7 days from the date of this post): https://we.tl/t-BPb0RzP1OB
Here is my translation for those of you who don't speak Spanish:
4th September 2018
TO THE BODIES OF ELDERS
Subject: Jehovah's Witness Lawyers wishing to collaborate with the branch
Dear brothers:
A survey is attached for Jehovah's Witness lawyers wishing to collaborate voluntarily and altruistically in favour of Kingdom interests with regard to legal matters. Once the professional brother writes down the information requested in the survey, he should hand it over to the Congregation Service Committee so that they can complement it and make their recommendation.
We share the following guidelines to help you identify brothers with the appropriate disposition and profile (Isaiah 6:8).
- They must be in a good spiritual condition, be exemplary in the ministry, in the family and in the congregation.
- It is preferred that they have experience in court and tribunal litigation or in dealings with government offices.
- They must be able to work as a team, follow direction, and have a diligent and helpful attitude.
If there is someone in your congregation with the profile mentioned above, encourage them to make themselves available by filling out the attached form (LD-04) (Ps 110:3). The survey can be sent in PDF format from the Inbox of a congregation elder to the Legal Affairs Inbox or via email to [email protected]. Explain to the brothers that after filling out the survey and giving it to the elders, they will not receive a letter in response. Rather, when a need arises, they will be contacted by the branch. If someone can no longer make themselves available, no longer meets the requirements, or moves congregation, the body of elders should make sure that they notify the Legal Department.
On the other hand, if the circumstances of a publisher allow them to devote one or more specific days in the week to collaborate with the branch or if they could support the branch occasionally when urgent needs arise, encourage them to fill out an Application for Volunteers Program (A-19). In the letter dated 10th October 2016, under the subject "Bethel Advisers", you can find recommendations for this facet of sacred service. When someone completes the A-19 application and is a legal professional, they can also fill out the attorney survey.
It is nice to be able to count on brothers who have the same attitude as the apostle Paul in defending the good news for the love of the Christ (Philippians 116). We trust that with your spiritual vision you can recommend valuable brothers.
We send you our warm Christian love and best wishes.
Your brothers,
Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses
i personally have a very distinct sense of style and fashion which many of the fellow jdubs frown upon.
recently, i was told by a few specially self righteous ones that i looked like a prostitute in a pair of white boots!
a pair of 3 inch heeled, just a little taller than the ankle boots, with skirt that came down to my knees and a black long sleeve shirt that came up to my collarbone.
No socks! I kid you not.
it was shocking.. all these years later, i found myself crying for the dead for the first time..
I was shocked obviously and saddened but to me it was just another act of terrorism. In the UK we had been suffering terrorist attacks for decades from the IRA (supported by many Americans of Irish descent I might add) so it wasn’t as much a shock as it was to Americans.
I remember thinking when I saw all the people being interviewed that finally they can now understand what we in the UK have been suffering for years.
As for the JW aspect, there were a few pointing to it as if we may be near the end.
http://www.recordonline.com/news/20180904/watchtower-disputes-200k-tax-bill-from-newburgh.
town of newburgh — the watchtower bible and tract society of new york is challenging nearly $200,000 in fire and other special district taxes assessed for three town of newburgh properties, including two hotels the organization bought to house volunteers helping build its world headquarters in warwick.. in a petition filed in orange county court last month, the umbrella organization for jehovah’s witnesses claimed that the town “either unintentionally as a mistake or intentionally and without lawful authority” miscoded the former hilton on crossroads court and the former hampton inn on route 300 for 2016, 2017 and this year.. with a combined market value of nearly $23 million, the hotel properties were not assessed town, county and school taxes for those years.
but the town assessed $196,000 charges for the orange lake fire district and lighting and water districts during those years.. newburgh also assessed $1,600 in special district taxes over three years for a vacant commercial property watchtower owns at route 17k and route 300.. “petitioner would not be required to pay the resulting unjust charges if its exemption from taxes had been justly, correctly, and lawfully granted and administered,” watchtower’s attorneys wrote in the organization’s petition in county court.. watchtower bought the two hotel properties in 2014 as it built its 1.6 million-square-foot headquarters on kings drive in warwick.
“Pay Cesar’s things to Cesar but God’s things to God”.... unless you’re the Watchtower, in which case you can totally ignore that law from Jesus!
on youtube a great clip, about the day kenneth flodin (jw broadcasting) got rid of his car.. enjoy.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78b67l_yxuc.

A British Classic and I never get tired of it either. Based on a true Hotel owner down in Cornwall who really didn’t like his clients!

Philip Brumley is a nasty piece of work!
As for that glass illustration, the only time you actually see his true feelings are when he throws it to the ground. There’s real anger/disgust in his face. Now THAT’S scary.
You could just imagine Jesus treating people like that.... not!
how outdated is the compulsion of people before the law courts of the land to take an oath on the bible to /swear on the bible to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help me god.or its equivalent affirmation.?.
and even if you do claim to believe in god but feel giving information to those who don`t deserve it then withholding such information is justified as theocratic warfare deliberately misleading those seeking such information.. if you don`t believe in a god ,you can lie all you like .. and in the case of geoffrey jackson at the a.r.c.
into institutions of child sexual abuse ,he had no problem misleading ,another word for lying to the a.r.c.
@Pale. Chronicles of Narnia. Brilliant!
I’d prefer the Charter of The United Federation of Planets (from Star Trek)!
Joking aside though, the actual Greek word for “holy” just means “different” as something that stands out from all the rest. For example: The first century Jewish Temple was holy because it was different from all other buildings.
Therefore, you could well swear on the Chronicles of Narnia if it was a book that in your view was different to all the rest and you valued it as it would be “holy” in the original Greek context compared to other books in your collection.
Cool, right?!
