I just listened to this talk about Morphic Resonance by Rupert Sheldrake. I find it quite interesting. In it he talks about the formation of habits in and learning. If what he postulates is true, I'm thinking, the more Ex JW's talk about TTATT and the JW organization ( finding and uncovering falsehoods, like is done here) the more JW's will see and leave the organization, with little else needed to be done....any thoughts?
It's an hour long, but I think worth it.
last thursday i was propmpted by a recent thread to read the daily text (feb 28, 2013).
i then had the audacity to send a text message to all four jw's nephews/nieces (in their mid 20's).
i offered my opinion by summarizing it "put and shut up".
He likes the dream I guess, because you're not 'robbing' him of anything he really has....he doesn't want to be woken up...yet
the watchtower bases their opposition to birthdays by two scriptures, saying something bad happened and god must have put it in there for a reason.
following their logic are there any other things jws shouldnt do because bad things happened in a couple of scriptures?.

I remember looking at the pictures in The Revelation book and others when I was young. They were mesmerizing to me.
Where did they get the idea they're better than the whole rest of the world? What an ego.
some people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.
apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.
i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

It was a memorial about 30 years after I left. Over the years, I'd only been back for the odd funeral. My aunt asked me to come and I thought I'd do it for her, as a courtesy, to be kind. She was getting old, and we got along so well. We'd frequently go shopping together, and always had a great time. At the end of the memorial the speaker said they'd be having 3 special Sunday talks coming up and that he encouraged everyone to attend these. After it was over, my aunt was so excited because she said that I would have to come to those talks. Well, my mouth dropped, and, of course, I could feel my anger but just said no, that I wouldn't be attending any more talks. So sad that they can only think one way.
This is an interesting topic, in many ways there's so much more humanity here. I'm so amazed at all the brave individuals here who have the courage to move on and hope for a better life outside of the JW's.
good morning jwn-land.. since my parents and my husband and i have learned ttatt we have been keeping quiet, mostly.
we have held off on revealing our true names, my dad has held off joining jwn and telling his story because we have been waiting for one special event.

were you pressured into it too, or did you do it because you honestly thought it was the right thing to do?.
I was 16 and I did it because my Dad, who was an elder, said I should. All my friends were already baptized. I was waiting for the Holy Spirit to guide me and say it was time, I thought I should get some sort of revelation before I did it. But it never came. Didn't feel any different afterwards, so that was a let down.
