i just think it's ridiculous that the WT even pretends to welcome questions. the answers are always full of that " it's a conscience matter, but you wouldn't do it if you were a christian" garbage.

"Questions From Readers"...are they r...
by LovesDubs injust like the urban legends that we all heard at assemblies, we also read questions from readers in the wts rags...did you guys ever read those while you were still jws and think "oh my god...there is no way that some 8 year old wrote or even said any of this.
" or when you heard at assemblies that we should be soooo thankful because the brothers in africa are walking through gator infested, malarial waters with their children on their backs and their book bags and meeting clothes on their heads, through monsoon rains 74 miles each way to attend their assemblies.
my mother used to say the same thing about cleaning my plate because there were kids in whoknowswhere starving to death.

How long was it for you?
by expatbrit ini'm curious: how many years were you in before you left?
by left, i mean either df'd and decided not to go back, or da'd, or faded, or even just realized it was a crock but stuck around anyway for family reasons?.
we're told in la-la-land that it's the newly baptized, those who are "spiritually immature" that mostly leave.

my parents were baptized in '75-i was 1. got baptized at 14, and started to question and drift at 19. by 21 years of age, i wasn't buying it anymore, and by the time i turned 23 i was totally done. i was officially df'ed last year, and i'm 27 now. the more i learn, my decision to leave is only affirmed.

How hard is it to kill a Fortune 500 company?
by newguy init seems to be the dream of many here to put the wt corperation out of business.
well, i hate to throw a bucket of cold water called reality on your dreams, but it is not likely to happen anytime soon.. the wt society has annual reveune of about $2.5 billion.
that figure was from recent disclosures they had to file as a not-for-profit company.

i would have to chuckle a little if the wt org. fell apart, but i would much rather see them screw themselves than be taken down by others. i too, have rarely, if ever, heard people plotting the demise of the org. on this board. are you having a bad day, newguy?

i agree with joelbear, there are homosexuals and there are pedophiles-to group them together makes no sense to me. homosexuality is a lifestyle or sexual preference between consenting adults. i'm sure, if it is your preference, it is more than insulting to be grouped with people who have severe problems and who "prefer" to commit acts of sexual violence against innocent children or teens. i would hope that even people who personally don't approve of homosexuality can see this obvious difference. just my opinion, but it is strong opinion.-nate

"It's a conscience matter"
by expatbrit injust had dinner with my wife and a couple of her friends.. one of them was telling me about her sister-in-law, a very nice, kind person who i've met on several occasions.
it seems this sister got a job in an office as a receptionist/secretary.
last christmas (1999) her employer asked her to sign christmas cards for all the clients.

expat-i am sick of this cowardice too. the sad thing is, even most of the r/f buy it. i have heard so many witneses express the thought that it was their fault for reading to much into the publications regarding things like you mentioned or prophecy. when i go back and read the articles it's clear to me that any reasonable person would assume that the WT's stance was one way, then the WT comes back later and blames their followers for assuming too much. i too hope they recieve their due.
TR- you crack me up!!
