i`d like to ask all ex elders and current elders (lot`s of new ones on the forum today), if they feel any different after they were appointed?
like a special portion of `j`s spirit`, or did they feel the same?
I didn't feel anything special. I was the only one in the group that could do the job. There were no brothers there except me when the congregation was established with any experience as a JW. That's why I quit about 10 years later, although by then there were about two or three other elders or "servants" as they were called. I can't remember but two JC meetings in all those years.

don't know why i just thought of that.
do they go or are the "exempt" from going from door to door?.
Are they any good at preaching door to door? Has anyone ever heard of someone having a bible study with one of the GB? Have they ever converted anyone to the "truth"?

i sent him off to school this morning and i didn't walk all the way down where i normally do because he's 8 and gets a tad embarrassed that his mom still walks down with him.
so for the most part, i sit on my steps at my appartment trying to listen if i hear him scream.
well, i just watched "without a trace" were a child missed her bus and she was kidnapped and at the end of the story they found her dead.
I was a little scared when I woke up at 2:45 AM and my wife was missing. I checked the bathroom and looked over the house. I called my daughter who lives next door and my wife answered, she was watching my grandkid because Emily the other one was at the emergency room. She is OK now after some medicine and examinations.

i am talking about when there would be a get together and everyone would bring lots of food?!?
i guess being a glutton is not as bad as being a drinker, or fornicator...ect!
i remember going to a get together after leaving the cult....and i brought a huge vat of homemade potatoe- salad....and that was about all there was to eat!
I don't remember any get-to-gethers. We sometimes would visit a family when we gave talks out of town and eat dinner. The young folks would go out together to a movie or something, usually cousins, after the Sunday meetings which were over at 5:00PM back then.

during what period of time did they have some credibility and were they most active and making the most money?.
around here, when i joined back in 1987, there were so many pioneers in the congregation and they were in the field service morning, afternoon and evening.
that lasted about 5 years, then it was a quick and steady decline in field service and a decline in building new halls.
I don't know what was the best years for the WT but I liked my years in the early 50's. This was before I had to volunteer at every assembly and they worked my butt off. I could enjoy hanging around with my friends and look for girlfriends. I really enjoyed those years when my dad was alive and the family went to all those big assemblies. I miss those times and my youth.

i found myself in an interesting situation.. i've been spending some time on some non jw related boards and one day i ventured into the religion forum.. before i knew it i was there posting about if satan was created evil/ if god intended him to be that way.. and also discussing the free will given to us (and the angels) to make our own choices to be obedient or not.. .
well i haven't found a faith since leaving the dubs.. i still believe in god but i have yet to trust any organized religion.
i haven't even yet been able to bring myself to attend a church, because the thought alone give me anxiety attacks.
How can you disagree with someone you have never talked with?
as far as God is concerned, I do not have any disagreements with him.
If we could talk with God, rather than talk to him I might disagree on the necessity of having mosquitoes.

after spending years with the witnesses, and the knowledge we have now, is there a religion that matches our biblical knowledge and experience?.
i think that we are way beyond any religion that exists, and that's why we stay out of religion today..
I think you got this right on.
Being a witness sort of disabled us from ever finding any contentment in another religion.
At least in my case for sure.

the jw world is so full of weirdness i don't want any part of it anymore .
but i got a bit sucked in... this morning i got a phone call from a woman that has studied and attended meetings for over three years .
her mental stability and smoking has always kept her from progressing very far .
I even try to not be involved in my own problems.
