i just made my reservations at the emergency room, so i won't be stuck in the lobby for hours listening to all that crying and whining.
Getting ready for our cook out in the back yard. The whole family is here, including the grandkids. Of course I'll be glad when everything calms down again and I can sit back in my recliner and watch TV. I love seeing all of them but it can get on your nerves after a few days and all the favors they seem to expect financially. (I want go into that here)

many of us ex-jws feel like victims, regardless of our personal background with the watchtower.. however, how do we define a "victim" of the jws?
i have often felt that the only true victims were the "born-in" children of the jws who through an accident of birth, have been forced to endure watchtower brainwashing from infancy onwards.
in addition, we had to endure the barren existence and public humiliations of a typical jw child as our parents forced us "to be no part of the world"....... should we consider adult converts to the watchtower in the same light?
There is good and bad in almost everything. Being a good JW probably saved my life. I didn't have to go to the war and sacrifice my life for some political scheme. Today it probably saves many youths from being a dope addict, or getting aids. All the policies of the JWs arn't bad. It does controll too many aspects of your life and can ruin your family sometimes. It can ruin your ability to provide for your old age finanically and many other things. I'm not bitter because my parents raised me as a JW, they were loving parents, but I did waste many years of my life trying to satisfy the WT society.
I'm pretty well satisfied with my life, I've been out over 30 years and can't complain too much about anything.

we went out and bought about $100 worth for tonight and are going to have fun.
i know that in many places they are not legal, as i used to live in california and they were a major "no no" unless done by a professional presentation.
here they are legal, as long as they are not something that leaves the ground or launches.
My wife's house was burned down by a fireworks that went into the attick from outside the house. There was ice on the road and the fire truck couldn't get up the hill to help put it out. She was a teenager at the time.

do y'all (former jw's i'm referring to here), ever get a sense of an overall feeling of impending doom?
i have had this strange sensation come over me almost as long as i can remember.
i'm not sure if its watchtower conditioning or just something in my personal make-up that creates this feeling.
I know how this feels now that I'm old and all my old friends are dying off. I sometimes think of natural disasters, for example, the volcano in the park in Calf. which could take out the US and maybe the world, global warming etc. I think of my kids and grandkids and what it could mean for them.
This is a new feeling for me, I never worried about it when I was a JW. I think I may have a chemical problem in my brain and it's causing depression.

i just have a querie about this book my jw freind gave me, its called "what does the bible really teach" i started reading and i found the first few chapters ok but further on in the book it seemed logical but just doesnt seem right, the best way i can describe it was kinda hypnotic, it just doesnt feel right... the other thing in the book i noticed was when it says "as you learn more from the bible, you may find that some well meaning people wil urge you to stop such studies.
they may worry that you will change your beliefs.
but dont let anyone stop you from forming the best freindship you can ever have.
What does the bible really teach? That question has been answered by so many religions that disagree with one another that you just might as well flip a coin. It is just an opinion and your's is just a good as anyones.
The one that they teach about the faithful and discrete slave(12 old men in Brooklyn) is just to be able to controll your every thought and action. If you love your freedom don't go there. The JWs are usually good people but are controlled to only be associated with their own. Your family are not counted as those you should associate with unless they are also JWs. Everyone else is a worldly person, waiting to be destroyed at Armageddon.
Unless you want to be part of a cult, stay clear of their religion.

...all in the name of progress.. the apartment complex where i live was originally condos but over time are now apartments.
it's my understanding that they were built back in the real estate boom of the mid-80s...say 1984. as time passes, things are in need or repair and/or replacement.
it's just a fact of life.
My yard is filled with large trees. It makes my house look so small. I love the trees, except in the fall when I have to rake leaves for months. There are several kinds of oak trees and some very unusual pines. Two kinds of maples, dogwoods, walnut, and some more I don't know the names of. A few fruit trees also, cherry, apple, pear and peach. Birds everywhere.

i heard a knock on my door this morning and it was a black lady with my invite to the assembly.
i thanked her and she left with out any further comments.

I might just go to see if I see any of my old friends from way back when I was young. On second thought I guess most of them are dead now.
i remember when i left jw's and started going to born-again christians(bac's) churches my "atheist" father laughed at me and told me that i would eventually leave bac's because like j.f.
rutherford said "religion is a snare and racket".
he said bac's and jws are just on an endless treadmill motivated by "fear" and not love for god into going to church/kh.
Littletoe, I have to admit I don't know the answers to life or God. I'm still thinking and looking for answers. I hope that God understands my situation and will help me out if he wants me to know what I need to do. I would love to have a sense of peace within myself and feel that I knew God. I don't want it to be just some man's imaginative idea though. Time will work it out I guess, if I don't die first.

Littletoe, I like the way you view your relationship with God but it doesn't work for me yet. I just can't understand the bad that God allows to continue to happen, especially to little children who had nothing to do with their situation. It doesn't seem kind or loving and I like those kind of friends.
Of course I don't understand what God is and am beginning to wonder if there really is one. Someday maybe he will give me some clue that will get me started in his direction or maybe he doesn't want me as a friend.
Further, do you hold Henry Ford to such exacting standards of creatorship? If not, why not?
It's simple, Ford was human and God is supposed to be a little better at creation than us sinner humans. His creations were supposed to be perfect, except the Devil and man, and some angels. Maybe Henry Ford did just as well after all.
