I have to say, despite being 3 x tins of Stella the worst for wear ( yeah, yeah I know 3 x tins and I'm anybodies (except Mrs Miggins from the pie shop (4 tins in her case))), that that was bloody interesting and I have sent it to my equally inebriated and brain damaged chums. No really, I mean it, thank you for posting it and I have printed it out for re-reaDING IN THE LIGHT OF DAY, SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS BUT i CAN'T BE ARSED TO CHANGE THEM.

Are the WTBS the modern day Pharisees and Saducees
by Leander ini've been thinking about this for sometime now and i wanted to know how other people felt about this comparison.
the pharisees were known for hypocrisy and for also promoting traditions of men and other non-bibical teachings.
when we look at the wtbs in light of the actions of the pharisees there are some amazing similarities.

An interesting post. I have thought this for a long time. The Greatest Man book did not show it up for me. Rather it was/is the manner that the congregation is left to rot. Note a recent KM when the article entitled (gist) 'Become rich in fine works' was presented. Did this Fine works mean showing love, compassion, kindness etc., that is conspicuous by its abscence. NO. It was just another 'DO MORE' in the ministry. I said to an elder - 'what is the point of trying to pull more into the congregation when we are not taking care of those falling off the back of the lorry?' The field service, the meetings and all the other things designed to use up free time are deemed more important then taking care of the congregation. As Jesus said they give the mint and the Dill but not the weightier matters like love. If anyone does (and it is a rare thing) get a Shepherding visit, it generally takes the form of an A4 printed piece of paper taken from the WT-CD with which to beat the vistee over the head with. You haven't been regular at the meetings, take that and that and that. (If any one is not a regular meeting-goer, may I recommend All Bran):).

i noticed, when reading the letters, that there were a lot of typo's which led me to think that they may be inaccurate and the like.
like most of us i just want the truth and not someones axe grinding so any pointers would be appreciated.

This is an interesting post. One thing that crops up again and again, I have found, is that the watchtower is spoken of or about as if it is a thinking and separate entity. You may remember reading such things as e.g., 'the WT of 1 dec 1943 declared....' or 'there was a brilliant flash of light in the wt of 31 dec 1975' and such things. In the mind of the listener there is this non-personal guru type of entitiy that 'pronounces' and it is held in great esteem, almost divorced from the WTBS and becomes the touchstone for all belivers. Some elders in our cong don't believe anything until they see it in the WT first - even common knowledge such as the splitting up of the Org into separate entities.

Much sense has been spoken. I did not stay at school because of the Big A coming in 1975. I have no quals but have taught myself. I encouraged my 3 children - all left home now - to get qualified. The meetings and door knocking will not put bread on the table or clothes on your back nor a roof over your head. I think with sadness about missed opportunies that I allowed to pass me by. i am not bitter just sad. There are many who gave up everthing because they thought A was coming - even got a mention in th WT - in 1975, sold their houses etc. What happened to them? That was 25 years plus ago. Stay in school, get qualified then reach for your goal. After all, if your goal is to change a light bulb, you need steps to reach it. You need money to buy the steps. You need a job to get the money. You need quals to get the job. You have to go to school to get the quals. - All to change a light bulb. the people who look down on you are jealous and frightened. They have been conditioned - 4 legs good 2 legs bad syndrome (animal farm by Goerge Orwell). They secretly want what you want but can't have it so don't want you to have it either - dog in the manger syndrome. Hope all these posts have helped.

They are very naughty and should be disfellowshipped. See if you can get pictures of them in compromising positions and take the photos to an elder. He will know what to do with them. You might even get a cut from the proceeds. Better still, get a few elders and spring an theoRaid - make sure they all have flash cameras - like in the movies. They will be carted off to a judicial hearing where all the dirty washing will be publicly washed and they will be drummed out. Is this the sort of info you wanted?

Special Judicial Committees
by JEMIMAH inyou will have to understand that i have to change a few details here and there so that i can't be identified.. as many of you are aware i serve as an elder, and from time to time i have been asked by the service desk to handle matters for them by means of "the special committee arrangement".
(a phrase you will not find in any wt letter or elders textbook.
) just to explain.. "a special committee is often set up when, an original committee (ojc)decides to disfellowship an individual, who then appeals against the judgement.

What an interesting topic. most of what I thought has been expressed. Long agao I gave up the belife that elders & Ms's were appointed by holy spirit. I have seen such misery caused by these men. It seems to me that most of the time appointments are made throught the old school tie, who you know or how much money you have. The WTBS, to keep control call such men 'glorious ones' in the WT and ascribe to them direct appointment by Jesus, the head of the cong. I doubt this very much. Such men, though it has to be said not all, often have a lack in some department or another and so compensate by lording it in the congregation. On appointment they get the 'piece of paper' which renders them invisible or of such standing that they can transverse the hall without anyone stopping them en-route.I complained to one elder about the total lack of shepherding or people skills. TSSSSsss went my forehead as I was marked as a complainer.
