What was the last thing you said to your jw family?
by caves in7 years ago i had my last conversation with the toxic jw that mostly raised me.
every conversation was toxic for my entire adult life with her.
the last time we spoke was right before the memorial 7 years ago and she was laying on the usual heavy guilt and fear mongering about how jeho counts his people at the memorial.

Also, the last time I stepped into the Kingdom Hell was to ask the coordinator of my congregation about how he and my father were plotting to take away my 'office' of ministerial servant behind my back. He was usually an unctuous man and never directly confrontational - it was surprising to see the mask come off for once, the arrogance, quite a spectacle. People could hear us, it was the end of the meeting and they were walking about pretending nothing was happening. He did not deny a single allegation, got really blue in the face, looked me close in the eye and asked:
'What are you going to do about it?!'
'Nothing. That's between you and Jehovah.'
'Exactly, between me and Jehovah!'
With that I walked out forever.

This thread reminds me of Barbara Anderson's life story and how governing body members apparently had different opinions on how to handle the child abuse (it should be called child rape by society at large, not just 'abuse') scandal in the organisation back in the nineties.
"And Jack Barr, whom we considered a personal friend, was a kindly man but walked in Barry’s shadow and did his bidding. Unfortunately, he was weak—not the proverbial “iron fist in a velvet glove,” but a “limp fist …”. Barr’s dispositional weakness became evident during a time when Lloyd Barry was out of town and it took three senior writers to put enough pressure on Barr, as next in command, to keep the factory press room from capitulating to Ted Jaracz’s orders not to print the April 8, 1992 Awake!, which contained material Jaracz did not support, although he was out of line by making such a demand. The job assignment of each Governing Body member was clearly delineated and Writing Department editorial decisions were not Jaracz’s business, just like decisions of the Service Department, under Jaracz’s command, were not the affair of Barry, Barr or Klein."

Rick Fearon - Six Screens of the Watchtower
by dubstepped inso a friend today asked me what his deal is and i honestly don't know.
i saw someone post about his accusations that the doj is investigating watchtower and people seemed down on the guy, as well has johnny the bethelite or whatever his name is that claims to leak stuff.
i don't know rick fearon, don't watch his show, but his site just seems a little crazy, and he seems to get into occult conspiracies and the jws, which never lends credibility.. so for those of you who have been around a while, what's the deal?

Here is a Rick Fearon style theory.
Rick has actually been planted and is funded by the Watchtower to give credence to their claims that apostates are liars. His agenda is to make preposterous claims against Watchtower that are demonstrably false so that JWs can point to it and say, “see! Mentally diseased apostates!”
He is the Alex Jones of ExJWs.Here's another Rick Fearon style theory.
Rick Fearon is a the Alex Jones of ExJWs.
Lloyd Evans is Alex Jones-lite of ExJWs. -

Family is now reaping what they sowed and they don't like it.
by Gemmel ini resigned from the jw's in my 20's over 30 years ago, i was immediately shunned by my entire family and it's remained that way with a few exceptions ever since.
one of those exceptions was being contacted by a cousin a few years back and during that conversation i discovered that my mother had been and still was the prime mover in my complete and continuing shunning.
i then used what contacts i had left to confirm it.

I hadn't even thought of that aspect, I was just feeling the need to vent a bit, glad it helped.
CheersEven though it's been years and the Watchtower has little power over my life today, this website is still kind of 'group therapy session' for me - reading your experiences, etc. Some wounds never fully heal. Also, as long as I have family and old friends still in it I will still need to see the Watchtower suffer the consequences of their bullying behaviour be it losing money or members, or being exposed for all to see, you name it.

I'm glad to have found this thread, confirms I'm not insane for keeping away from my toxic still in parents, who would do nothing but ruin my life if they had the first chance and tried that before. It's hard to talk about family with normal people, I have to go undercover and pretend I'm 'normal'. Close friends and even ex-jw friends who know I've had problems with my family that they have not had don't seem to be able to get it, though. So I am happy to find vindication in your story. -

What Does A Examination The Classic Response By The Watchtower's Responce To The News Media About Child Abuse Cover Ups : "They Abhor It" ?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think to the world in general it is fucking stupid but what about the every day jw?
is that all that they can say and is this type of public statement commonly known to the r&f?
their statement they abhor it.

In 2018 few things can still shock me, but Ted's arrogance in the video, and the Watchtower's arrogance on this issue to this day never cease to amaze me.

What changes would stabilize JW membership?
by StarryNight9 ini've seen many topics about how things are changing or might be changing in jw doctrine/culture.
some have extrapolated how those changes would result in declining jw membership.
i'm curious to know what changes others think would stabilize those numbers.
