  i know there are conferences that xjws attend, but since i ran accross joy castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject.

  something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as xjws can get anyway lol.

  i think it would be cool if we could have people like her, kimberly norris, bryan, donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us.

  Well logan you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but IMO we have a lot of authors, scholars, and teachers in our midst and I think if we can share with each other then so much the better. I am fully aware of the "pat ourselves on the back" issue, but you see there is a larger audience and all one has to do is advertise correctly and they will come. In reality many XJWs might not benefit in a direct "getting over it" manner, however if people are still dealing with issues or there are others doing research I think it would be very enlightening for them. We have major Catholic, Methodist and Baptist Universities here and one would imagine there might be a few theology students interested to say the least.

  I am also betting we could do some webcasts for folks here who could not attend. All our classrooms are wired for net access...AND I know of couple XJW geeks who live in these parts..

  Thanks for your comments! It looks like I already have one professor onboard for whenever we could make this happen...professor of world religion and also psychology. I am hoping I get responses as it would be cool to have some of the people I have emailed already. Anyone have ideas for videos we could or should play?

  Well I've done some recon and am awaiting responses to my emails. I contacted several colleagues at SMU and University of Dallas. I am hoping they will put me in touch with a couple specific professors that lecture on topics like the birth of religious sects and Apocalyptic writings. Both topics which I think might be of interest to some. In combination with the literary stuff and those topics I also have access to a small theater type area with a projector so maybe we could have a video or two going at the same time, which would round it out even more.. Any other ideas are most welcome.

  guess what you guys....... i come home from a staff meeting and sitting in my mailbox is a little care package from my friend jgnat!!.

  in it was a delicious chocolate and marshmallow confection, along with a lovely heartfelt note.. i was touched, and jgnat can really cook.... and i must imagine how good it tastes fresh out of the oven, before being shipped a few thousand miles.. so thank you jgnat.

  according to hillary step, next time you should send me salad...
