he sounds more scared and frustrated rather than self righteous.
he'll be 63, and he's been a JW for 38 years now.

A conversation with my dad

i'm starting to get closure on my parents relationship with regards to me.the dynamic between them versus me is abusive.
my dad didn't think i had any reason to be bitter.he said i chose to leave "jehovahs people" and this is what i should expect as treatment.

I talked to my dad today, after I text him when I was angry after a night out. I'm starting to get closure on my parents relationship with regards to me.
The dynamic between them versus me is abusive.
My dad didn't think I had any reason to be bitter.
He said I CHOSE to leave "Jehovahs People" and this is what I should expect as treatment. "What did you expect?"
I was told that how I live my life affects others, and I hurt everyone when I did this (I replied with a sarcastic 'congratulations'). I hurt THEIR feelings.
He said that shunning is not abuse, no matter how I may feel or what it looks like to me (wow)
He didn't understand how they could have been abusive at all to lead me to this path, and there was no possible way this could be their or JW ideals fault
I was fairly calm, and I didn't mince or censor words in my conversation, and he sounded more desperate than self-righteous. His hope for the "new world" clearly brings him comfort, and I don't wish to take that from him.
What is telling though; I flat out asked him
"How do you explain to other people that you're shunning your child and pretending he doesn't exist?"
And he hemmed, hawed, and deflected and asked me "what I believe in now?" Which lead to his criticism of my agnosticism.
He had no answer. -

You've got a really flimsy and shallow knowledge of JW culture or beliefs (and the bible itself) which when mixed with genteel self-righteousness is a comboniation that generally all of us here at the forum hates. -

It's like $45. It's insulting and does absolutely nothing for such an expensive city like nyc
Bethelites finance themselves from either savings, or parents/friends sending them money from home. Or they do work under the table. (Rare)

No 'Tight Pants' policy is now official - classed as 'disturbing'
by wizzstick inin short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.

Like I said, it's not a dress code issue. It's a behavior policing issue. Young men and women are always thrown to the wolves, and locked out of social circles, or platform assignments and told they aren't trying hard enough when they're doing their best because of some arbitrary gauge of masculinity or femininity. It's very much cult like; everyone is to act and look the same.
