This is a clear statement that says Rulers are "God's servants" (Romans 13:7), not of Satan as JW teaching says.

Pray for all people, especially our leaders? That's what the bible says
by TTWSYF infrom 1timothy chapt 2. the first to timothy.
2 first of all, then, i urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made concerning all sorts of men, 2 concerning kings and all those who are in high positions,*+ so that we may go on leading a calm and quiet life with complete godly devotion and seriousness.+ 3 this is fine and acceptable in the sight of our savior, god,+ 4 whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved+ and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.
5 for there is one god,+ and one mediator+ between god and men,+ a man, christ jesus,+ 6 who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all*+—this is what is to be witnessed to in its own due time.

That statement is not found in Mark's gospel which is the first one written. Statement is found in Luke's gospel, and Luke was not a disciple, nor was he present in the site of Jesus's crucifixion. It's likely that statement is a later adoption by someone who had no idea about when Jesus was really resurrected.

steve2,
If parable has a central character, what he says as the main intent of his action should necessarily fit with what really happens later. Here we find a father who grossly miscalculated.
Besides, parable has its origin in God Himself according to Jesus: "I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me." (John 8:28

David_Jay,
You got it correctly when you said: "After the death of Jesus, his followers had to develop a way of making his crucifixion appear as if it were "part of the plan" from the beginning."

To1500,
You ask: “would you sacrifice your life if you knew you were going to be raised to life in 3 days?”
When God asks, anybody would do it without any second thought, hence it won’t be sacrifice at all.

Here any sort of interpretation is ruled out because in His message to Judah, God Himself says sacrificial killing of a son is “something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.”—Jeremiah 7:31

To those taking a stand and not attending the Memorial tonight
by doubtfull1799 ini salute you.
many of you, like me, are probably under enormous emotional pressure, whether from a lingering false sense of guilt from your indoctrination, whether from "invitations," and assumptions that you'll naturally be coming, or whether from outright emotional blackmail, even begging and pleading.
i am thinking of you whoever you are, all of you, even though i don't know you in person.

Memorial celebration is a later adoption, hence no one need to feel guilty of not attending it.

"Abuse of free will" - an Oxymoron?
by doubtfull1799 inthe society loves to talk about how adam and eve abused their gift of free will.
doesn't free will mean the freedom to choose?
how can exercising that freedom to choose then be classed as abusing the gift?

“Your Liberty To Swing Your Fist Ends Just Where My Nose Begins.” Hence freewill means both—you are free to do things to certain limit, yet not free to limit the freewill of your fellow-humans. When Adam and Eve touched the “tree of good and bad,” they were in fact developing a new awareness of what is good and bad which is the characteristics of ego. It means they fell from greater view into the contraction of me and mine which will definitely hurt another person’s freewill.

Jesus gave an illustration with a landowner being the central character:
“There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit. “The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way. Last of all, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.
“But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.’ So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.” (Mathew 21:33-39)
This illustration was my stumbling block when I a Witness. I asked many elders about this, but none of them gave me a convincing answer.
