Here the question is not about what is material and what is immaterial? Question is dependency. When I know my core existence is immaterial, why should I depend on Scientists for explaining to me that it is immaterial. Science does not invent self, it is the other way around. My self with its mind is immaterial on its own merit and it is self-evident and too obvious. You may be aware that some eminent scientists like Einstein who went on record saying they arrived at some of their theories first through intuition and later they verified them through scientific means. Intuition is obviously from an immaterial source.
You can also google "atheists who unexpectedly underwent NDEs changed their view that everything can be explained through matter." You will be surprised to know there are some very prominent former atheists among them. They were very sincere in their former atheistic beliefs. You can also continue to be sincerely materialistic till you have an experience to the contrary.

These questions are too simple to answer.
Matter has always existed in some form or the other since matter is materialization of energy which can neither be created nor destroyed. So is the case with immaterial beings such as my mind, your mind and the Supreme Mind. Hence question of who created God, who created His residence are all redundant.
I don’t need an explanation from Science for the existence of my mind which I know exists and which I know is immaterial. I exist, and I also know that I exist. Moreover, I am a consciousness with a conscience that is capable of distinguish not only what is right and wrong but even the various shades of them. So is the case with your mind and the Supreme Mind.
I know many scientists who are modest and balanced who say our area is to stick to what is quantifiable and empirical, God may exist or may not exist which doesn’t come under our purview.
Regarding souls or Supreme Soul being happy or unhappy. I know my very nature is happiness. I feel unhappy because I chose to be so by diverting from my nature, and I continue to be unhappy till I return to my original nature. For example, I am shouted at by someone. Now I am thinking about it--questioning it how, why ... which means now I am diverted from my original nature by taking the words of another person to hurt my self. I am creating the hurt--not the words of another person. After some time, I begin to think--how can his words hurt me unless I hurt myself; what if I let those words unheeded ...now I am returning to my original nature of happiness. This is the case with all Minds.

You may be right. But victims, like my grandpa, had no other way of explaining the horror they were subjected to.
It is true that similar horrors can be performed even by those belonging to religions (as happened from Rome during Dark Ages). This is because they were materialists in their hearts who were using religion for their unjust ends. This is true with pedophile Elders, Priests and other “religious” people …etc. They are “having a form of godliness but denying its power;” “wolf disguising” “whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” (2 Tim 3:5; Mat 7:15; 1 Tim 4:2)

Interestingly, Bible itself gives proofs that much of the things Jesus said and did was imagined by writers. For example, it is reportedly told by Jesus: "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.” (John 3:13) It means only Jesus who descended from heaven has gone into heaven, no one else has gone into heaven! Jesus ascended into heaven at the end of his ministry, after his death. Hence how could he say he has ascended into heaven at the start of his ministry?"
It means writers just thought what could have Jesus spoken or done if he were treading on earth and wrote them down. This could be true with rest of the bible writers too. That is why we find in one place God said this and that, yet in other place He says he did not say so (Jeremiah 7:22; 8:8)
Destruction of Jerusalem temple more than once, and great fire at the Alexandrian Library destroyed scrolls and other valuable writings. This enabled writers to manipulate their writings.

I am not BASHING Science. I am not against Science. I like Science when it simply explains things. “Science must not impose any philosophy, any more than the telephone must tell us what to say.” (G. K. Chesterton) Because I do not want to say like Bertrand Russell before his death: “There is darkness without, and when I die there will be darkness within. There is no splendor, no vastness anywhere, only triviality for a moment, and then nothing.”
But I want to echo the sentiments like this one: “Even if I turn out to be wrong, I shall bet my life on the assumption that this world is not idiotic, neither run by an absentee landlord, but that today, this very day, some stroke is being added to the cosmic canvas that in due course I shall understand with joy as a stroke made by the architect who calls himself Alpha and Omega.” (Clyde Kilby)

All these repeated readjustment on the word “generation” shows that Jesus never spoke such a sentence (found in Mathew 24:34) because the following verses he purportedly said was about Noah’s flood which has never occurred [Even if Noah’s ark is scientifically possible with a bigger vessel that takes care of 8.7 million species, theologically and logically it is not possible for God to handle a situation that puts greater hardship on the righteous than on the wicked who died in a few minutes after getting drowned in the water]. (Mathew 24:36-39)
This means the sentence “this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened” (Mathew 24:34) is from the thoughtless writer, not from Jesus.
Like any other religion and its scripture, Bible too right only in its essence, not in details. In essence all religions and scriptures are true because they say God exists, and mechanism of ‘reaping what one sows’ too exists. Hence clinging on to details would land anyone into trouble.
Interestingly, Christendom's theologians say gospel of Mathew was written after 70 CE which means after the destruction of temple. Hence writer took advantage of the already-happened-event putting it into a prophetic mode.
Trinitarian verse that was put into Jesus' mouth (Mathew 28:19) shows Gospel of Mathew was written even much later because doctrine of trinity was a later development.

I was showing how Bible writers were evolving which has nothing to do with God of the Universe.

If Noah’s flood never happened it doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist. If God doesn’t exist, then it would mean materialism is the truth. But you cannot say materialism is truth because truth is not material. Moreover, materialism cannot explain what defines our basis human nature, our every desire and human flourishing, and things such as wisdom, truth, love, joy, hope, destiny, purpose, compassion, tolerance, morality, art, music, ingenuity, ability to conceive abstract concepts and to communicate them …which are all non-quantifiable.
Such things make sense only when we take God into account as implied in the following statement: “As we conquer peak after peak we see in front of us regions full of interest and beauty, but we do not see our goal, we do not see the horizon; in the distance tower still higher peaks, which will yield to those who ascend them still wider prospects, and deepen the feeling, the truth of which is emphasized by every advance in science, that ‘Great are the Works of the Lord’.”—Sir Joseph J. Thomson, Nobel Laureate, discoverer of the electron, who is also recognized as the founder of atomic physics.
Antony Flew describes an experiment conducted by the British National Council of Arts. A computer was placed in a cage with six monkeys. After one month of hammering away at it (as well as using it as a bathroom!), the monkeys produced fifty typed pages—but not a single word even though the shortest word in the English language is one letter (a or I). A is a word only if there is a space on either side of it. If we take it that the keyboard has thirty characters (the twenty-six letters and other symbols), then the likelihood of getting a one-letter word is 30 times 30 times 30, which is 27,000. People vary in their responses. See how two atheists look at DNA.
Richard Dwakins writes in dispassion: “A monkey is a machine that preserves genes up trees, a fish is a machine that preserves genes in the water; there is even a small worm that preserves genes in German beer mats. DNA works in mysterious ways.” (Selfish Gene)
But Antony Flew who was a great champion of atheism for over 50 years changed his view on DNA when he revisited it with an open mind: “What I think the DNA material has done is that it has shown, by the almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce (life), that intelligence must have been involved in getting these extraordinarily diverse elements to work together.” (There is a God, Antony Flew, page 75)
There is a reason why responses vary. In The Design of Life, William Dembski and Jonathon Wells write: “Many of the systems inside the cell represent nanotechnology at a scale and sophistication that dwarfs human engineering. Moreover, our ability to understand the structure and function of these systems depends directly on our facility with engineering principles.”
But good news is that God is not concerned about your beliefs—whether you are atheists or member of a religion. He is concerned whether you were altruistic when you were living on earth. (Mathew 25:31-46) Interestingly, this is what something even Richard Dwakins stresses: “If there is a human moral to be drawn, it is that we must teach our children altruism, for we cannot expect it to be part of their biological nature.” (Selfish Gene)
Interestingly, altruism is the very basis of God. (Mark 10:18)
