Using Watchtowers Own Reasoning Against Them RE: The Governing Body

something occurred to me today.

quite randomly as i was working away at my desk i remembered an illustration from the bible teach book in which satan claimed he knew better than jehovah about ruling mankind.

pale.emperor made the first half and littlerockguy made the second half.—What a perfect reasoning, as though scoring a hat trick. Hats off to you both. Now I really feel for JWs. They believe in something 100%, and untruthfulness of it can never occur to their minds. And this is true of any ism and religion. Only an outsider can see its flaws. In other words truth exists in all religions and isms scattered. Hence there is no point in getting struck with one religion or ism; but one should go beyond all and look at them as though viewing the valleys from a mountain top.

a question after my first JW meeting

i attended my first jw meeting recently.

first, i would like to say what i agree with about the jehovah's witnesses beliefs and practices.. 1. they don't consider israeli's as "god's chosen people" and they don't worship israel as some holy land filled with righteous jews (although there are some there) as most so-called "christians" (christian zionists) erroneously believe they are instead of the "hypocrites" and "vipers" that it is actually filled with.. 2. they don't celebrate "holidays" like easter and christmas which are, in fact, remnants of earlier pagan practices.. 3. they don't put nation before god and christ.

they don't believe in war or going to war because of some crazy government/cia secret agenda.

They are right in many details. But they are absolutely wrong in teaching and practicing what ultimate duty is (not hurting others)—a cause all the prophets stand for. (Mathew 7:12). If one disagrees with any of their teachings, he is shunned forever. God is not interested in details (Mathew 7:21-23); but He accepts anyone (including atheists) who is humanitarian. (Mathew 25:31-46) All other scriptural verses that contradict this fundamental truth are of human origin.

if you had 2 minutes with an old witness friend or with a family member to convince them the 'truth' is a lie and the gb isnt being directed by god what would you say to get their attention that might make them question their beliefs?.

Daniel explanation

can anyone explain to me please about the statue in the daniel prophecy coz i've always been curious about what people have discovered about it?

do the jws have the only explanation?.

What is described in Daniel is the copy from other cultures which teach that history declines in quality as the time passes by, and its declining phases are symbolized gold, brass (or silver), copper and iron. Scriptures of different cultures differ only in details, not in essence. This is the common thread we see in all of them. God makes provisions for the enjoyment of life and leaves the work of their fair distribution to humans. (Luke 3:11) But humans leave greed to rule their lives which results in abundance in one place and deprivation in another place. This situation is the second part of the history. First part was perfect. (Gen 1:26-2:3). And God restores perfection in due course. Thus Jesus defines God as the one who “renews/recreates” the provisions for life’s enjoyment whenever humans deplete/destroy them. (Mathew 19:28)

i was just sent a link to a jewish scholar that apparently he has found 1,000 manuscripts with yehovah and latest discovery is one with vowels that supports the spelling yehovah.

Hinduism teaches that a virgin (Kunti) gave birth to six children (who came to be called Pandavas); Christianity teaches that a Virgin (Mary) gave birth to one child (Jesus); Evolutionism teaches that matter (virgin) gave birth to many forms of lives. They only differ in details, not in principle. If you are stuck with just one ism, you will ask questions such as ‘Why poverty in Africa, why millions are massacred, raped…?’ Such questions indirectly ascribe glory to God for the abundance in affluent nations, for people who are not yet murdered and for women who are not yet raped.

Whether the name Jehovah is true or imaginary I am benefitting from its meaning (“He causes to become”). He causes Himself to become whatever role needed to benefit His children. That means God’s name is an invitation to humans to view Him in various roles that would bring benefit to us. If you view Him as your real Father, He would cause Himself to become your Father giving you power. If you view Him as your mother, companion, teacher, spouse, Guru, and Almighty, He will cause to become Himself such and will make you link with His infinite peace, joy, knowledge, love, purity and bliss respectively. No wonder Bible presents God in various roles—even in feminine terms such as mother (Deuteronomy 32:11-12; Isaiah 49:15; 66:13; Hosea 11:3-4) and insight into His various roles naturally enabled His children to have deeper and sweeter relationship with Him which kept them always happy and balanced. (Romans 8:28; Isaiah 12.2; 61:10). At the root of Him taking various roles too lies His core quality of benevolence. (Mark 10:18; Psalm 100:5; Psalm 145:17; 2 Peter 3:9 ….)

Whether it is God who is bringing this benefit matters not. Result is benefit. When we really assign to God relationships such as fatherhood, companionship … our subconscious mind accepts whatever we choose to believe and it works to make our beliefs become true for us. Our subconscious mind does not distinguish between what is real and what is imagined. Whatever we are thinking or telling ourselves, the subconscious believes it to be true and works outside of our conscious awareness to prove we are right.

Don't Try to Choose Your Beliefs

beliefs are not things to be chosen like new clothes; authentic beliefs happen to us without our conscious attention.. i have often seen comments from ex-jws to the effect that they are now unsure about what they 'ought' to believe.

others express offense when their chosen beliefs are challenged and well-meaning bystanders protest that everybody is entitled to believe whatever they wish.

this misunderstanding of what it means to believe something is unhelpful.. it's natural to want to quickly replace our old beliefs when our worldview has collapsed around us.

I agree that “authentic beliefs happen to us without our conscious attention.” That is why we have many scientists who greatly benefited mankind through their great inventions, yet who were not academics. They were not followers of the convention. No use putting on beliefs of others. For example, one who “slain well over 200,000 men” for his greed is believed to be “great” (Alexander The Great) by the world. Belief in God may or may not help because both good and evil people can be seen among theists and atheists alike.

If you want to be happy and feel good you must choose thoughts, speech, deeds, diet, association and pace that make you happy and feel good.

it really helped and i will try to use all of it.

now, i been doing research on what is false about the jdubs.

Jesus said his leaders are to be ‘recognized by their fruit.” (Mathew 7:16) Leadership is for empowerment. See how much people JW leadership has alienated—could be even more than those who are with them. Alienation and dis-empowerment happen when power is abused, which means fruit they have produced is abuse of power.

Jesus categorically said that there would not be a genuine organized group of his people till the end of the world. (Mathew 25:31-46) There would be individuals here and there who are disciples in their hearts.

Adam and Eve received fake news, says the Pope...

i like the pope he's a funny guy...but did satan give adam and eve fake news, i don't think so....

Pope is right in doubting Adam and Eve account which is obviously an interpolation through a parallel account of creation. (Gen 2:4-3:18) This parallel account is from a patriarchal mindset which wanted to project woman as the cause of suffering and hence should be under the domination of man. (Gen 3:16).

Genesis chapter 1 clearly says God created Mankind (not an individual), and blessed condition continued for a long time. (Gen 1:26-2:3) How mankind developed egoistic tendencies which brought the end of blessed condition of the paradise earth is symbolized through the story of Adam.
