I actually read all of that and found it quite fascinating. I didn't understand it all, but fascinating nonetheless.

Question for the married guys
by TweetieBird inis it possible to be friends with a woman, text her, call her, etc and not be physically attracted to her?.

Does (or would) this platonic friendship bother your spouse? If so, drop it. Your spouse is more important. I have several platonic friendships with people of the opposite sex, however my wife is absolutely okay with them. I have had others that she has expressed concern over. Out of love for her, I dropped them. Our marriage is happier as a result.

Subtle wording in today's study article (3/15/13 WT)

"first, we must proclaim that name to others, recognizing that only those who 'call on the name of jehovah will be saved.

I see what you are saying, but in this case, the word "who" gives both statements its limits.
It's like offering a free gift by phone for everyone who calls, but the people receiving the gift are still the only ones who called.

But Satan DIDNT lie!???
by mrbunyrabit inwhy does the bible portray satan as this big liar, and that he is the father of the lie when he didn't lie?.
genesis 3:4-5.
4 then the serpent said to the woman, you will not surely die.

Interesting. I was studying Genesis this week and thought the very same thing. To me, it was deception by making the truth of the consequences seem like a good thing. To make breaking God's one rule appear to be a good thing could be considered a lie. Skillful, indeed.

Bethel Laying Off
by Bob_NC incan anyone comment on whether bethel is laying people off?
as in, sending folks out of bethel to go pioneer somewhere?
i have heard rumors but would like more detail.

Bob_NC, I honestly don't know if there is any correlation or not. To be honest, what I have found much more interesting is the lack of discussion here about what is being discussed over there. JWN is generally way ahead of the game when it comes to things like this. It kind of makes me wonder what is up BG's sleeve. Is it just him pulling the strings or is there something actually about to go on? Time will tell.

Excerpt from MacArthur Study Bible...
The emasculated [eunuchs], (v.1), the illegitimate (v.2), and the Ammonites and Moabites (vv. 3-6) were not allowed to worship the Lord. The general rule was that strangers and foreigners were not admissable until their conversion to God and the Jewish faith for fear they would lead Israel into idolatry. People from Ammon and Moab were excluded on account of their vicious hostility toward God and His people Israel. Individuals from all 3 of these outcast groups are offered grace and acceptance by Isaiah upon personal faith in the true God (cf. Is. 56:1-8). Ruth the Moabitess serves as a most notable example (cf. Ru. 1:4,16)
