Im a non JW and i'm interested in a JW

i'm interested in this girl and shes a jw.

i went to the meetings and i was bored out of my mind.

i can see how the religion is very appealing to people.

I've seen guys join the JWs in order to 'win' the girl. Some actually succeeded. Joined the JWs. Got baptized. Got the girl. Married the girl. So - they got the girl, but now they're in a cult. Unless you want to be in a mind control cult, that dictates to you most every facet of your life, it's not worth it. Of the guys I know that did it, things didn't work out in the long run. Divorce or misery... sometimes both.

If you have to change religions to please the other person, you're caving to them and are not being true to yourself. If you're not true to yourself first, you'll never be truly happy.

It seems to be a simple solution: RUN! but it is the best. Do not get romantically involved with anyone who won't return affection unless you join their religion. JW, Mormon, or any other religion.

I find myself in the odd position of defending the WTS in one wee little bit... The title of the illustration says "The Earthly Part of Jehovha's Organization". Technically speaking, if you believe in WT doctrine that is, the earthly part of the organization does start with the GB and work it's way down. So, the 1 thru 6 is somewhat accurate.

Now, OTOH, the illustration goes to the trouble of showing Jehovah on his chariot thingy, along with the angels driving the wheels or whatever. So there's where the argument for Jesus comes in. If you're going to show Jehovah overseeing the GB, then shouldn't you show Jesus? Some have said the Kenny Rogers looking angel is Jesus, but this is inaccurate, because technically speaking again, Jesus is sitting at the right hand of Jehovah, so shouldn't he be up there with Dad? Maybe a somewhat smaller throne, but still in a position higher than the angels in steerage.

And another problem with this arrangement is that it completely ignores the True Christian Congregation arrangement, which is Jesus as head of the congregation, and the 144,000 making up the actual Christian congregation.

So even if the 1 thru 6 is technically accurate as far as the WTS power structure goes, they've managed to throw the rest of the heavenly organizational structure right out the window.

New Release for 2013 District Assemblies

an insider at bethel has confirmed that there will be a new book released this summer at the district assemblies.

the society is using some new technology called "current light.

" it allows them to print the book with certain parts in permanant ink (as has been historically used) while other parts of the book have erasable ink.. as i understand it, sentences that begin with words such as "evidently, apparently, obviously, it appears that, likely, clearly, doubtless" and numerous other phrases will be in a slightly different font so that the "current light" sentences can be easily changed when needed.. for example:.

Below is a post I made on another thread about the Reasoning book. The old printed Reasoning book is old light, in that it still says that the generation of 1914 will still be around when Armageddon comes. But when the WTS added this book to the new JW.org online library, I fully expected it to be re-written. But it's not. It's still the same as the old printed version.

I went to the 'new' JW.org, searched through the 'online library', found the Reasoning book, found pages 93 - 98 (subheading 'Dates') and found the same exact quote:

As shown under the heading “Last Days,” those events have been clearly in evidence since 1914. Before the last members of the generation that was alive in 1914 will have passed off the scene, all the things foretold will occur, including the “great tribulation” in which the present wicked world will end.—Matt. 24:21, 22, 34.

You would've thought that they would have cleaned that up for the 'new' online version, huh?

Did You Give Much $$$ To The Kingdom Hall And/Or Watchtower Society?

i typically gave $$$ to the local kh and seldom gave donations to the society.. i always am amazed how some church going people have very little materially, yet make sure the church and the pastors are well taken care of..

I was pretty slack actually. Never donated too much monetarily. A few bucks here and there when I had cash in my pocket, but hardly ever ever wrote a check. Special occasions only for checks, like remodel expenses or something like that.

For some reason, I didn't want a record of my donation amounts kept by writing checks once a month. I know, it was paranoid, but I didn't want it easy to notice if I missed a month, or if I changed the amount. By leaving a record, I might be setting myself up for being counseled if they could show that I was being stingy, so I only dropped cash in the box every so often. And even then it wasn't much. Just enough to salve the conscience.

When do you think there will be a revised "Reasoning Book"

because i was abroad we had to use the original revelation book and only the reader had the new improved version so i don't know if this was the same else where but following along using the old version made the adjustments seem even more ludicrous.. why didn't they ensure everyone had the new version before studying it rather than highlight all the "adjustments" that had to be made in a km and therefore making them more obvious?.

do you think there could be a list of amendments to be inserted into the reasoning book in the same way?.

after this whole thing with him talking to this other girl on fb, now he deleted me as a friend.

i have his username and password.

it's like, he doesn't want this marriage to work at all.. i don't even have it in me to argue with him.

Facebook is a two edged sword. I like and hate it all at the same time. I like it for keeping up with local interests, local bands, bars, clubs and acquaintances. I like it for the funny stuff, the weird stuff.

I hate it for religious, political, lifestyle grandstanding. I hate it as the main means of commmunicating. I hate it for becoming a meaningful relationship communication substitution.

Facebook is pure entertainment for me, nothing else. If it starts to replace real life, then it's time to unplug.

Andre (not his real name - it's James) is a Christian who lives in the Southern United States. Andre found himself in need of major car repair. Should he repair his older car, or purchase a newer car. Aware of the implications of buying a new car and the monthly payment, Andre was reluctant to add another bill. Andre's goal was to serve full time in Jehovah's service. A new car payment would mean working extra hours to pay for it. Andre prayed on the matter. A week later, while visiting an apostate message board, Andre was inundated with advice on how to extend the life of his car. Andre will now repair his car, save on the monthly payment of a new car and can continue on in his full time service to Jehovah. While one may question his motive of visiting an apostate website, when he realized that Jehovah was using it to counsel him on his decision, he quickly accepted such counsel and since has been even more dedicated in his service to Jehovah and his organization. Let us all be like Andre and repair our Ferraris in due time...
