Coulda been worse... Coulda been a Mormon special meeting. No women allowed.
Mormons and JWs...bringing 1800s mentality to the 21st century
i've never even heard of this annual meeting or whatever its called.
is it a new thing?
sure it wasn't around in my day.. my elderly parents must have gone to it yesterday.

so with everything else being dissected, i want to know why it's important to have a font that can be copyrighted?.
the font used is very similar to a number of others, like tahoma, ms sans serif, and arial etc, so what benefit is there to employing (in the loose sense of the word) a team in japan to create a brand new western set of glyphs?.
will this help with their prosecution of those who copy/paste nnwt verses?.
LOL... I can see it now: "The One, True Font of Jehovah". Seeing this font in the new NWT (NNWT?) assures us that this is indeed the one, true translation of Jehovah's word. If you don't see other bibles in this copyrighted font, then you have an inferior, and inaccurate translation.
will you download the new watchtower app on monday?.
Just saw the app on the Apple Store for iPhone. Had no idea it was coming. But then, I didn't know about a new Bible which seems to be all the talk on the forum as well. And some special piped in talk?
disclaimer: been MIA for awhile and haven't kept up with the goings on of the cult. Seems like it was a busy weekend for the dubs. They must just be giddy as hell today.
checking out the apple store for any new cool apps, and lo and behold!
i see that the wts has finally embraced that demonic form of information dispensing.
and all jah's chil'ren are snapping it up.
Checking out the Apple store for any new cool apps, and lo and behold! I see that the WTS has finally embraced that demonic form of information dispensing. And all Jah's chil'ren are snapping it up. All the reviews sound similar and fall into one of two categories: praising Jehovah, or - praising the organization.
While it's a bit surprising to see a JW app on the top charts, it is good informal apostate witnessing, so to speak. It is hoped that 'regular' non-cult influenced folk who read the reviews on this app are going to see just how nutso most dubs really are and are going to run quickly away, not only from the app, but from JWs in general.
Thanks, WTS! for allowing your sheeple's true cult colors to shine forth on the iPhone platform.
there has been some speculation over the last weeks about this issue.. well it's up tonight, only large print so far though.. george.
.
They are truly becoming a bonafide CULT! I know they already were but this SEALS IT!
Becoming? Seals it? No, they already were a bonafide cult. Always have been. The religion that DFs and shuns people who wish to leave is enough to gain cult status. But add up all the other kookiness and history and it's obvious that it was a cult from the git-go. We were either unlucky enough to be born in it, or gullible enough to buy into it.
Semi-shunning of people who have HOBBIES, Or FOLLOW SPORTS?!!
They have always practiced what you call 'semi-shunning'. Anyone who doesn't fall in line and obey the directives is looked sideways at by the rest of the group. Even down to how you dress, how you wear your hair, what you drive, what you read, what you watch, what you listen to. Nothing really new in their MO; maybe just being a little more vocal about it in the mags is all.
Are they trying to set up two classes of witnesses, like a caste system?
Trying to set up? It's already there. Actually there's several classes of dubs. You got the GB, Jehovah's direct voice piece to the rest of the sheeple. There are DOs and COs who travel around soaking up the glory of the local dubs that suck up to them Then there are Bethelites. The very ground they walk is worshipped by the rank and file. On the local level, you've got elders, then pioneers/MSs and at the very bottom are the average rank and file publisher who is contantly harassed to do more, give more, pray more, etc. Each of those 'classes' being looked up to, or admired, by the ones below isn't accidental. It's set up that way. They use guilt to drive the rank and file to keep busy.
i'm hoping those of you in the jwn community may be able to help me out.
an acquaintance (of legal drinking age) may soon be sitting for jc under the charge of "drunkenness".. to those of you who have direct experience either serving on a jc, or being the subject of a jc related to the misuse of alcohol:.
- could you provide a list of questions that were asked of the accused?.
Are there two or more 'witnesses' to the alleged drunkeness? If not, it didn't happen...as long as he doesn't confess. No confession, no witnesses, they can't do anything...technically. Oh they may not believe him and they'll watch him like a hawk from now on, even digging around his so-called friends looking for snitches. But they won't be able to DF him, or even reprove him. They'll give him a warning, may even play good cop/bad cop on him, but if he knows it's all BS, doesn't really fear these guys, he can lie and pretend his way through it and walk out and be sitting in the bar/pub by 9pm.
Of course, if there are two or more witnesses, then just claim it as a one time slip. He's embarrassed and apologizes for upsetting everyone. Crocidile tear it up... and on yeah - the first thing he did after he realized he had messed up? He prayed to Jehovah asking forgiveness and help. They fall for that shit.
hey people,.
as for myself, after extensive study i have concluded that it's not possible for me to trust the bible and so i am not active anymore.
however, let me please add something to the discussions here:.
Anyone who has stayed a couple of years around [the Catholics] knows that the organization is full of good and at atimes wonderful people.
Yet they still have a child abuse scandal among many other issues
Anyone who has stayed a couple of years around [the Mormons] knows that the organization is full of good and at atimes wonderful people.
Yet they still have a dark history (Smith, pologamy and racism) and still have nutty beliefs (magic underwear, book of Mormon)
Anyone who has stayed a couple of years around [the JWs] knows that the organization is full of good and at atimes wonderful people.
Yet they also have a child abuse problem, a dark history (Russell the kook, Rutherford the drunk, F. Franz the delusional), a pattern of false prophecies, ever constantly changing main doctrine, and blood guilt (transfusions).
Anyone who has stayed a couple of years around [Christians] knows that the organization is full of good and at atimes wonderful people.
Yet they believe in a magic man in the sky who controls our destiny
Point is, nice or not, people can be delusionally ignorant. And when that ignorance keeps you associated with a high control group like the JWs, it not only harms them, it harms others as they seek to gain converts through their WTS mandated preaching work. I don't like to harp on the rank and file, the real enemy is the WTS, but as long as people allow themselves to worship the WTS, then they have to suffer whatever criticism is heaped on them for being associated with the bOrg.
i'm just wondering has any body ever been busted on an apostate site because someone was able to identify them because of something they wrote.
why i ask this question is because how would this be explained at a jc.
because the person who reported it to the jc was reading something that they shouldn't of.
Unless people post personal identifying information, there is not much risk - you are an anonymous person on the internet.
The people who have been identified very often aren't hiding who they are - that is their choice and right. Everyone can chose their own path.
Case in point: Me. I've been here pretty long now. Hard to believe I'm one of the old timers of the board, but even though I probably have divulged a little too much here and there, I've been careful to not give enough info about me personally where I could be outed. Call it paranoia, but when people are out to get you, it's just good planning. And even that is going overboard, 'cause after so long, no one really is after me, but I find it prudent to keep the guard up.
Some here (very few) have been busted, because as Simon said, they didn't hide who they were...or didn't do a good job of it anyway.
But, if someone should see a pattern or some circumstantial evidence and they accuse you of being 'so-and-so' on that JWD apostate board, all you have to do is deny, deny, deny. Anything short of posting, "HI! My name is _____ and I attend the ___________congregation in Hicksville USA", they're only taking a stab at it. It's only an accusation. And without two witnesses, they don't have anything on you.
i was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.
i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!
i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.
They couldn't charge with me apostasy if you go by their own definition of apostasy...
Oh yes they can. They can 'charge' you with anything that three of them agree upon. Facts, evidence, attitude don't mean shit when elders decide to go after someone.
if you could pick anyone from jwn to meet in real life to meet and have dinner with, who would that be?
let's exclude all those who you are already friends with, who you know and love from jwn in real life.
so or me, that excludes my friend ann and also curious butterfly.
We should have a convention
We don't have to wear our convention clothes and name tags to dinner and clubbing/drinking afterwards, do we?
