Shouldn't a thread on smugness include this smilie somewhere along the way?

You keep your male member out of this.
LOL. Ouch. Your smugness has trumped my sarcasm. First Bush, then this. What a week.

Or cell phone chatters in a public area, like a waiting room or restaurant (thankfully some restaurants have banned it) on the train, bus...whatever, I don't want to have to hear your conversation.
What's worse than hearing a one-sided cellphone conversation is hearing someone use one of those Nextel two-way walkie-talkie cellphones. Now you can hear BOTH sides of the conversation with a loud "ba-bleep" before the person on the remote end speaks. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

A betting man, who bets with himself is a very sad prospect, even one who prides himself on laying silly little traps for his obvious betters. It is a little like a gnat pretending to be a dragonfly. Now, go away before I get the fly spray.
Now, that's a smug reply.

World War 1 and 1914
by Schizm in.
how did it just so happen that a world war took place in the very year that russell had attached so much importance to?
i realize that he expected 1914 to see the end of the world's governments, and of course that didn't happen, but it still seems to be quite remarkable that this war happened that very year ... a war that would later be construed to be the fulfillment of jesus' prediction in matthew 24:7.. the explanation given on the e-watchman site is that satan deliberately caused the war to happen so as to mislead jehovah's witnesses into thinking they had actually seen the fulfillment of bible prophecy, in order to make them think that jesus had returned invisably.. any ideas?.

Even a broken clock is right once a day
Actually, it's right twice a day ...so even if the WTS was to get another (revised history) prediction right, two out of 120+ years of wrong predictions and changed doctrine isn't enough to convince me that they are privy to God's timeline of destruction for the world.

Dogs are not for Christians
by RunningMan inin one of the other threads, someone made a comment about dogs and birthdays, and it got me thinking.

The Bible makes only two references to birthdays, and both of them were associated with something bad. Therefore, JWs do not celebrate birthdays.
Using the same logic, I did a scan on the word ?dogs?, and found something very interesting. Dogs are mentioned 25 times in the Bible. In every single case, they are associated with something bad.
Therefore, it is highly inappropriate for Christians to associate with, own, or otherwise fraternize with dogs.
Good job.

I hate stupid drivers....
Drivers hanging in the fast lane going slower than everyone else...
Drivers who brake at the bottom of on-ramps instead of acclerating and merging...
Drivers who are oblivious to what's going on around them..death grip on the steering wheel...staring at the end of their hood(bonnet)...
Drivers(if you can call em that) behind the wheel talking on cell-phones instead of paying attention to driving...
AARRGGHHHH!!!

Do You Tend To Be Oversensitive???
by minimus inhave you been told before, that you are a bit oversensitive???
as a jw, were you always being "stumbled"?

I tend to get a bit pissy too when people call me "politically correct"
LMAO. I noticed that.
Nope, mini, I'm not angry in the other thread. Just exasperated. I can't seem to get anyone to understand what I'm saying. I think Xena got it, but she thinks it's an inferior opinion.

Do You Look Down on "Religious" People Now That You're No Longer a JW?
by minimus ini try to respect everyne's opinions on religion but i find myself thinking, "what's wrong with these people?
"

Sure but now you think I'm inferior by your reasoning
I guess we'll both have to be inferior, LOL.
No you can see it as DIFFERENT....you can still be right but that doesn't rule out them being right also, for them.
That can work in certain situations, I guess...but others that are more of a yes, no kind of thing...Is there a God or not, for instance(or better yet..Bush/Kerry)...it would be hard to do. Athesits will think believing in God is inferior and Christians will think athesism is inferior. We can accept each other but we'll always disagree and think that we are more right than they are. Just human nature.
