i have heard from one neighbour of our local kh that there is a lot of traffic/speeding out of the kh etc etc.. were there any complaints from the neighbours about the local kh?

Someone was vandizing the inside. Didn't steal anything but damaged the sound equipment, spray pained chairs and walls. Turned on water and left on, ruining the carpets. Its funny now be cause I suspect it was ex-witnesses that might have done that. Don't know for sure,

Hmmm....that reminds me; I still have a key to the hall and I know the code to the alarm system....BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Yes. At one hall I attended, the next door neighbor, only yards away, complained about the late night(9:30 to 10:00 if that's late) noise several nights a week(three cong. used one hall). Kids running around in the parking lot, yelling and screaming. Loud talking and laughter, etc etc etc. And the neighbor was right. We were too loud. I felt embarrassment sometimes knowing that we were being obnoxiously loud and the neighbors might be trying to sleep.

I proposed that the hall build a privacy fence as a good-will gesture to the neighbor but the elders pish-poshed it, saying it was the neighbors problem.

Yesterday when I posted these questions for BroBennett:

If you were an elder and it comes to your attention that a child was abused, then the first thing you would do is call the authorities (the authorities being the police)? Even when the instructions from the WTS say to call the Society's legal department first? What if the legal department says that your state(assuming your in the USA) does not require reporting, would you still report?

I told myself that the only defense he would be able to come up with against these type questions, not only from me but from others, would be that this thread is about the "prevention" of abuse and not the aftermath of how it's handled. But I didn't think he would stoop to copping out by using it. But I was wrong:

This thred is about prevention and not about what should of been done since the best time to find evidence is when the crime accurs.

Even this statement damns the WTS. If the best time to find evidence is when the crime occurs then wouldn't it be prudent to call the police as soon as the crime is discovered? If the WTS is serious about abolishing child abuse then shouldn't they do more than just print articles on how to prevent abuse? Shouldn't they urge their followers to call the police immediately after learning of a possible child abuse crime? Shouldn't the safety and welfare of the child come before any judicial investigation or action? Shouldn't other parents be warned that a molester is in their midst if guilt is established?

Anybody can print how-to or prevention articles. That still doesn't make them experts on what they printed. Similarly, the WTS's articles of prevention, while containing some good things, does not make the WTS experts on how to prevent or deal with child abuse. Neither does quoting the articles on a message board make the poster any more knowledgeable on the subject than anyone else.

its funny that when i imagine what other posters look like - i alway imagine them as attractive, fit, well groomed, with bright, shiny happy faces.

i never see them as obese, nerdy, or with greasy hair and warts and pimples.

their noses are never too big - no body has a "comb-over.

If God did have a new system..would you want to be there?

i was a witness for over forty years and for most of that time the "new world" "paradise" was not a place i ever wanted to live in.. there are many aspects of life in the 21st century that are great and i wouldn't want to give up.

tv, internet, blues/jazz clubs etc etc.. i may be shallow.

but there were other better reasons millions of people would have gone, wiped out by god: this never sat easy with me.. i told my elder father that i wouldn't want to live five minutes in god's new system, knowing that people i loved, had been killed by god because they didn't love him in the way he wanted.. just telling my father that has made me really wake up to how i really feel about my ex religion.. does a paradise earth as jw's depict appeal to you?

Not to be smug in return, but which god as portrayed by JWs? the Hebrew God or the Christian God? They seem to differ quite a bit. The Hebrew God is violent and angry, the Christian God is an absentee landlord (with apologies to Al Pacino).

Seriously though, if paradise is anything like being a JW today, then I wouldn't want to be there. JWs claim to have spiritual paradise today, imagine the control they would have on you in a physical paradise.
