Dude my old COBE about 3 years ago started using the word "behoove" in ever possible situation one day for no reason... Literally he uses it atleast three times per meeting. It freaking makes my skin crawl

Joy based upon faith is just not enough
by sosoconfused inat the hieght of my jehovah's witnessness like most people it seemed that everything that i found joy in was always bookmarked with the "new system" that i was eagerly awaiting.
if i went on vacation and i was truly enjoying a moment in the sun and total peace the first thought out of someones mouth was always, "just imagine(i am sure everyone knows what is coming next) in the future when everyday will be like this in the new system!".
then there were those anniversary parties when you are so proud someone made 20 or 25 years and the next word out someones mouth inevitably was, "this is a great milestone... but just imagine in the new system when we will say how proud we are we made it to 1 million!!!!..

Granted I participated and indulged the iea and used that same logic at every occasion as well. But since awakening I realized that those moment did not bring me joy, instead they brought this weird feeling of sadness and uselessness. It took the joy of a wonderful moment and covered it over with my hope and faith of something that was coming that I may or may not be in... paradise. Even if I was sure to be there, the constant reminders of how much better that time would be would always diminish the joy that was to be had at that one particular moment.
I even remember at the birth of my first child how elated I was, I was on cloud nine. My over-zealous mother says. She is so gorgeous! I can't wait till the new system when I can have more too. Then your children will be able to play with their own uncles and aunts!!! She laughed... I laughed... but once again we took all the joy out of the moment... and once again placed it on an unseen moment that we all hoped to be there for.
It seems like the most beautiful scriptures such as Ecclesiastes 3:10-13 never really have any true meaning to a jehovah's Witness unless it pertains to the field ministry in some weird twisted way.
Personally I would rather revel in the daily moments of joy of looking at a butterfly on a flower and thinking just how beautiful it is without worrying about how much better it will be in "the new system". I want to look at the accomplishments my kids make and rejoice with them now instead of always minimizing their current accomplishment with one that my faith leads me to believe will happen SOON.
The life of a witness is like the kid that is told at the beginning of summer vacation that before the summer is over he is going to go to Disney World. Every day the kid thinks all day about it, he tells everyone he meets that he is going to Disney World very soon. He reads about all the things to do at Disney World. Dreams in his mind of what he will ride. Little does he know that the promise was just an empty message from his parents to get him to shut up. They had no intention of fulfilling those words. As the days of summer vacation come and go he realizes that the summer is over in just a few days and his parents seem to have forgotten. While all the other kids in the neighbor had fun at the swimming hole, basketball court and just hanging out making real memories... all he is stuck with are his dreams and broken promises...

1914 must go... they have no choice now (at least it would seem)

as a born-in 1914 is a date stamped into my head that is pretty much the foundation of our religious beliefs.
nearly everything that sets jw's apart from everyone is this date of 1914. forget all the chronology that proves that daniels prophecy and the 2520 years is incorrect - there is far worse damning evidence that makes this date useless and in error.. with the magazine that shines new light on the whole faithful slave thing - charles taze russell is no longer a member of that faithful slave class that jesus is using to feed his people./ by getting rid of russell the no doubt were able to distance themselves from all his crazy ramblings and teachings that are appearing all over the internet.

I just can't wait for this latest new light to actually be studied at the hall and see what conversations are had over the course of that 2 to 4 week period. I am sure that I will probably be let down beyond belief - but there must be thinking people in those seats

However the linchpin that holds the org together the 1914 doctrine that we are all so proud of and makes us think we have prophetic truth revealed only through us was brought to us by someone who not only wasn't a Jehovahs Witness but they were not even a part of the faithful and discreet slave class.
Would jesus have revealed this most sacred of prophecies to someone that wasn't part of the "slave class", yet all the prophecies that were issued by the self professed "slave class" have proven false. There will HAVE TO BE a number of people who will realize this...
Yesterday this was one of the main points that me and my father discussed after our episode discussed yesterday. It makes no sense to him - and he is a 70+ year old man whose mind is slipping

Gifts for C.O.'s and D.O.'s
by sosoconfused indoes anyone else find it funny that the circuit overseers and district overseers go to a new congregation every week, have all their bills paid and then for some odd reason the elders always find a way to give them extra money.
on top of that there are atleast 10 families in every hall that give them a green handshake.
then the people who give them expensive gifts (i am ashamed to say i participated in this) like watches etc... yet these guys still act like they are giving up so much.... .

Please do... unfortunately he passed away about 3 years ago... he wrote the song that goes "special Gifts from God our children are"... cant remember the name of the song at the moment.
He actually held reading classes in our territory because we had alot of haitian immigrants. He was overall just a nice guy and seemed to enjoy what he did.

The one C.O. that was great.. I loved him was Alonzo Hawkins... they guy was very intelligent and he made a fool of the elders in our hall when I was young. During one of his talks the elders were in the back discussing something.
He took off his glasses, crossed his arms and rested them on the podium. THe audience was so shocked... yet the 3 elders had no idea what was going on since they were so engrossed in conversation. He finally says, "What in the world are you brothers discussing during this meeting that is more important than the spiritual food being dispensed from the platform at this time???"
To watch those rats scurry in differnet directions was amazing. Surely that was also a testament to his arrogance but it was great. He was actually pretty well of though because he was previously an English professor and he had his own cash.

The funniest one recently asked us for an old printer that we had in our storage room. He said he likes to tinker with things - fix them and then sell them on craigslist. Don't they have better things to do with thier time. He was also big into amatuer radio...
