booker-t let me explain something:
1. The name you selected to use is booker-t... as in Booker T Washington or Booker T. Jones or Booker T the wrestler all of whom are black so many will suppose you are as well. Strike One
2. You said something about Obama that is positive... Strike Two
3. You posted something in support of Obama write after the Trayvon Martin case - Strike Three
You are out LOL

I am not sure if any realizes it but most people I know were up in arms with the fact that a minor was killed with no eye-witness and the person who shot him was released a few minutes later. On top of that this particular police department has had so many complaints about unfair treatment of others - it is easy to see why MANY felt this was just another cover-up. Another case of black life not meaning anything. That is what people felt.
The portion of the population who instantly wanted him imprisoned or dead without a trial is probably no larger than the same portion who are ready for the RaHoWa. You have people on both sides that are extreme and want action taken without the facts being stated.
In regards to Crump I have absolutely no knowledge of what he has said about anyone.
In regards to comparing one crime to another that never works as intended because each is unique.
I still hold to the point that just because someones actions are all legal it doesn't make them right and often times the results of those legal actions can create a mess that is totally unnecessary.

- I get a sense there is a population whose racism won’t be satisfied until enough of other races have been made to suffer injustice.
- I get a sense that some Americans don’t understand that how a person presents themselves to the public (e.g., mannerisms, dress, grooming, body art) gives folks reason to suspect them as more or less worthy of keeping an eye on for sake of safety.
In my case, at nighttime I’m far more suspicious of anyone who covers their face compared to someone walking around with their face uncovered.
Marvin Shilmer
============================================
You are correct marvin there is a group that feels that way. Its not a whole race its a portion of it. Just like there is a portion of the population that feels that one group of people does nothing but cause trouble and she be sent back were they came from.
The majority of the minorities in my situation just want to be treated like your next door neighbor instead of the guy that has to be watched for months before he is deemed human enough to live next to.
I also am suspicious of someone covering thier face at night time if it is a beautiful clear night, however if it is raining I don't really think anything is wierd. Personally if someone has a hoodie and it is raining outside and it is not on thier head I then might think they are on drugs or something is wrong with them. It's like being outside in a rainstorm with an umbrella in your hand and not putting it up.
In regards to dress and grooming. I know inthe south you see just as many white latino and asian kids with baggy pants big shirts and hoodies with tattoos as you see black kids.
Profiling exists of course, but when you do not give people a chance to prove who they are on an individual basis it can make ones life very unpleasant and in turn cause people to lash out

Simon... you keep saying slavery and past crimes have nothign to do with this but for many it does.
Up into the civil rights era the plight of minorities not just black minorities in this country was insane. However what people fail to realize is that it wasn't like the happy switch turned on in 1964 with the Civil Rights Act and everyone was treated equally. For the love of God I got beat in school in North Carolina for beating a white kid in a spelling bee by my teacher in the 1980's.
That is not that long ago. Because of ones race they experience things you never will, so when you condemn people as being narrow-minded and not seeing reality for what it is - maybe you just can't see thier reality. Just like they can't see yours. I understand why so many white folks get upset because they are held accountable for what happened all those years ago. However when I encounter lots of white folks who still call me out of my name, make snide remarks or try to treat me as if it was still 1854 you must understand why people have a hard time letting it go.
tootireds comments about multiculturalism is spot on in many respects.
In regards to my children, they are taught never to think less of anyone because of how they look - but they are aware of the fact that by nature many will judge them.

"I don't, I have been profiled myself. Driving through the state of Colorado I was pulled over for no reason other than the cop thought I looked suspicious. The thing is there probably won't be a society where profiling does not exist for a long time. Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not we all profile each throughout our daily life. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, it just is, and multiculturalism is still a relatively new thing, and with that comes a host of challenges that we as species have to work through and evolve past. " --tootired
tootired in no way am i trying to minimize you getting pulled over because that too was ridiculous. It makes you feel bad. Like I mentioned earlier this week on Friday I was stopped by police while walking with my 5 year old son on the sidewalk because some neighbors said a suspicious guy was in the neighborhood. Flashing lights on and all.
Earlier I in the year I was stopped in front of my house because I was reading my mail in the car and the cop happened to be in my neighborhood. He drove past me looked in my car slams on breaks reversed and asked me what I was doing there. I told him I lived there and he demands to see my license as proof.(My family is the only one in an all white neighborhood) These things happen to me so often it is ridiculous.
The point of me saying this is to state that yes I know these things do not just happen to black folks but just imagine what this does to your spirit and what this does to your thinking. It also shows why black people get so angry because these things demoralize you and make you feel like crap
Sorry if I am ranting

valkyrie - sometimes it is better to laugh to avoid crying.
The initial police report from the night of the shooting lists Martin's height as 6'0" (1.83 m) and weight as 160 lb
The morning after the shooting, an autopsy found that Martin's body was 5'11" (1.80 m) long and weighed 158 lb
Zimmerman's weight was shown as 185 pounds (84 kg) on his Seminole County Sheriff's Office Inmate Booking Information on April 11, 2012, the date of his arrest and he was 5ft7

tootired2care - I personally have accepted the verdict. I knew this would be the outcome because they did a shabby job of delivering the evidence. Most importantly there was no camera there so nothing was 100% either way. What my main concern here is because I live no more than 30 miles from where this happened and I am constantly profiled and treated in certain ways when I go out - I am hoping this does not emboldened other gun totting nuts who look at me as a 6ft2 black who may appear intimidating to start following me in dark places or just decide to shoot me because they "FEEL THREATENED".
Many people laugh this off but this is a very real scenario and fear that people of certain backgrounds face. Mind you I have no problems with people of any race, I have made and always have have friends of all races and like it that way. I am just stating the facts as I have seen them unfold over the years

@awaken - awaken2004 your last few sentences sum up how i think most people HERE feel. The holes in his story are many, but it doesn't matter because the case brought against him was a giant mess on the pprosecutions part. Morally GZ should be in jail for 3- 5 years so he can understand that as a common citizen profiling is wrong. His actions resulted in the life of another person being snuffed out because he did a number of stupid things.
@valkyrie - AAll black men at birth are injected witha serum that gives them the ability to grown a half of a foot on command and to summon the punching power of Mike Tyson whenever they see fit. However during the time period that the serum is in effect they are no longer Minors regardless of thier age they instantly become MEN. LOL (It's true look it up)

Simon you sound ridiculous and you are twisting words and ignoring the very things that ZIMMERMAN SAID
a. He admits to following Trayvon. His voice can be heard saying it on tape to the dispatcher. When asked is he following him he said "YES". You heard it yourself. Why lie or try to twist this???
b. Unarmed means he had no gun or other type of weapon. In order for his fists to be registered as weapons in the US (Not sure about Canada) it would require some serious form of training. You are aware of this but you think your response is witty when in fact it shows YOUR BIAS. His Physique is a weapon? You sound so freakin ridiculous.
So anyone above a certain Hieght or weight in your eyes is considered armed??? Do you have a Napolean complex of some sort? So pretty much if you ever go to a basketball everyone on the court is considered armed and dangerous to you? You sound ridiculous.
If Pavement is a weapon then as soon as someone walks on the street they are armed. Ridiculous
c. You just made yourself look even worse. I never said he MURDERED him in my statement. Niether did tootired. You are seeing what you want to see Simon. You are angry and your bias is apparent. So as stated HE KILLED TRAYVON MARTIN.
d. The only reason his life was in danger was because he got out of his car following a supposed 6ft5 black guy (WHY DID YOU HAVE TO STIPULATE BLACK GUY. Would you not feel danger if a 6ft5 White guy punched you to the ground, was beating you and pounding your head against the concrete" The fact is he would not be in that situation had he not put himself in that position.
I am not confused with anything, you are confused. Then again maybe you are not, you are fully aware and accepting of your bias. I never said GZ needed to be in prison for life. However because of foolish choices he ended up killing someone. Obviously he wasn't intimidated by TM or he would have not gotten out of his car. If he was scared he could have just waited for the police. However he had a gun which gave him a sense of power. He knew for a fact that if attacked he could use the gun - wether he provoked the attack or not.
The laws in Florida (where I happen to Live) make itextremely easy for someone to killed and the killer be exonerated based mainly on their own words. That scares some people. Maybe not you because people look at you and are not intimidated by your small stature or skin color or whatever it may be. However some of us have kids that are instantl seen as a threat based upon what they are wearing or what color they are and it is a cause for concern
