The more time I spend with "worldly people" the more I realize...
by confusedandalone in... that they actually have more of a desire to get to knoww you then jehovah's witnesses.
for years at the kingdom hall although i was an elder everyone "knew of me" but no one knew me.
i realized that i never really had a friend who knew anything about me as a person or my background.

Thanks for the words all.
Nothing feels as good as being ablke to make decisions and observations without being masked by some weird believe that everyone is trying to kill you! The term "worldly people" was in quotes because i find it crazy to actually think it means anything... definitely not trying to offend anyone... after all I guess I am world at this mpoint... or far worse LOL
Cigars have become my new love LOL

... that they actually have more of a desire to get to knoww you then Jehovah's Witnesses. For years at the kingdom hall although I was an elder everyone "knew of me" but no one knew me. I realized that I never really had a friend who knew anything about me as a person or my background. The worst part of that was that no ne really wanted to get to know that aspect of me - they just wanted to be friends with the elder that gave talks in hopes it would benefit them. Those are facts. As proof now that I am not an elder there is no interest at all. People will see me places and not want to talk - peopel who I helped with sound advice when they were in need...
Today I went to a cigar shop to buy a replacement humidifier for my cigar humidor. When I walked in all these 50 and 60 somethings were playing cards. Black guys /white guys / Latinos old music was playing and there was thick cigar smoke in the air. I looked for the owner and noticed that some guys at one table were playing TEXAS HOLD 'EM. I sat down and watched and one of the guys asks me if I want in? I said sure. I played cards with a 3 old white guys and some dude from CUBA for an hour. None of them knew me. However the conversation we had over the game dealt with
a. Music
b. Sports
c. Women
d. Political Issues
I voiced things to these people I wouldn't dare say to JW's I knew for 20+ years. I said heartfelt things that I have never uttered to other people. At the end of it all, I had nicknames (Big Slim / Chocolate Thunder) prior to this I was only ever called my name or Brother. They asked me where I lived, told me about the area. Funny stories about things that happened in the past... it was great. I never bought a dang thing and I got to smoke a free cigar. Lastly the owner says to me, "every day after 5 it's dealers choice Big Slim... we expeckin' to see you more often." I said, "Great! I'll be here - this was awesome".
It took an act of God to get invited to a gathering as a dub... I can get use to this new life

District Convention talks regarding Apostates and College
by outsmartthesystem inas much as it pained me.......for the benefit of my upcoming custody battle.......i went to the friday afternoon session and recorded the final talk of the day that railed on college.
then i went back and recorded the apostate talk on saturday.
both recordings are audio and visual but the visual is basically just a panoramic of the arena (i was sitting/standing in an area more or less above and behind the speaker.).

Also dont remember to get a copy of the child custody packet that pretty much tells parents to encourage the children to lie about wanting to pioneer and say things that the court would like to hear.

Why did Lazarus Pay for his sins twice?
by criticalwitness inaccording to j dub doc the wages sins pays is death meaning to them death covers your debt of sin when lazarus died did he not pay his debt?
so when jesus resctd him why did he die again?
when jesus brought him back did he creat or recreat an imperfect being on the sinful road to destruction?

" Please cite the scripture that says Lazarus died again after he was resurrected. I have never found one."
He's just hiding in the bushes for the last 2000 years. He is waiting for Mary to turn the corner so he can pop out and say "BOO!"

You atheist really annoyed me
by confusedandalone inwhen i first came to this site.
whenever i would try to talk about somethign from the bible that the jw's got wrong or reason on a scripture that had so much feeling you would stomp all over it.
talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance.

- LisaRaye "the belief in the religion was a usefully construct, as it explained away the bad things in the world (Don't worry about anything, God will fix that!), and held out a hope of life in the JW "lion petting" paradise. "
This is exactly the feeling I had

"All the different gods that people believe in are just reflections of themselves."
Exactly my point. Everyone, everywhere has a god and it is so funny that the god the serve/worship just fits in so well with their laws and customs. SO pretty much wherever I am as long as I abide by whatever customs they have I seem to be ok with the deity.
Although this is convienent it is also very telling

i still want someone to give me a logical answer as to why god doesn't just tell everyone what he wants instead of just a small group of people. There can be no logical reason for thisI
