  I recall reading that Russell obtained some pyramid data by using calipers, and measuring carefully the dimensions of a DIAGRAM of the Great Pyramid published in a book!!!!!

  Russell then went on to use the precise values he obtained in this way to make prophetic calculations!

  Russell didn't even try to concel this, he wrote about it openly! He did NOT mention that taking measurments from a paper diagram of a pyramid is a worthless way of obtaining valid precise data, but it did not appear to bother him that he did. Any deductions based upon such numbers would be worthless.

  Was Charles T. Russell a naive uneducated simpleton?

  Thanks blondie for looking that up for me.

  I understand it better, the shepherd did not know the lamb was in trouble until it and the mother sheep cried for help. OK, I will buy that. The shepherd would have eventually found out, but the cries for help got immediate response.

  This CO-inspired illustration ranks up there with comparing the rank and file to a baby elephant chained to a stake that is conditioned not to stray even when it gets big enough to pull the stake out of the ground or comparing non-JWs to corpses and that being married to one is like kissing a corpse or that God doesn't value little, dirty pennies just big, shiny quarters.

  didn't find the one about "sheep having to call out before the shepherd will look for them," that sounds very, very false in real life!

  What sick, demented mind would think of using corpses in an illustration? oh, wait, it came from the Watchtower! OK, that explains it!

  Bears catch salmon as they jump out of the water, like we can make a showy display and get caught by Satan

  This is a really BAD illustration. Salmon exert themselfs tremendously to swim upstream against the flow of water. As they try make it up over the rocks, they sometimes fly into the air, not for showy display, no, but to try to make it to their destination! This is a very FORCED illustration! Very removed from reality!

  Dirty pennies, I remember you wrote that an elder (CO?) used the illustration "What would Jesus pick up off the ground? A shiny quater? or a dirty penny?" Again, a poor illustration. How do we know what Jesus would have picked up? Perhaps both, or pehaps neither!

  "sheep calling out for the shepherd" hmmm.. don't recall when they used that one, in the publications? or was it in a talk?

  "sisters compared to dogs" ah, yes, someone posted that, in this convention even!, the illustration was that dogs obey because they have to, and wifes should obey their husbands because they want to.

  At least they didn't compare women to "hanks of hair and bags of bones", that would be too Rutherfordian!

  Yes, have any "real" questions ever been asked at the meetings? No! Real questions are neither desired or tolerated! They might disrupt the orderly, UNIFORM, proceedings!
