What was that medical quote they did quite recently, which turned out to be a reference to a medical book from 100 years ago! (of course the fact it was 100 year old information was not mentioned).
Splash, do you remember from what article The Watchtower quoted from a 100 year old book? What was the topic under discussion?
It would be very interesting to know the title of that book, and try to figure out why they were quoting from it.

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Israeli lawmaker Michael Ben Ari ripped up a copy of the New Testament and threw it in the garbage.
Ben Ari, of the National Union Party, had his legislative aide, Itamar Ben Gvir, photograph his destruction and released the photo Tuesday to the Israeli daily Maariv.
Lawmakers had received in their Knesset mailboxes copies of the new edition of the New Testament released by the Bible Society in Israel, which distributes Christian books in the country, Ynet reported. Some returned it to the society and others quietly disposed of it.
“Sending the book to lawmakers is a provocation. There is no doubt that this book and all it represents belongs in the garbage can of history,” Ben Ari said, adding that it "galvanized the murder of millions of Jews" throughout history, including during the Spanish Inquisition.
Government spokesman Mark Regev told Ynet that "We totally deplore this behavior and condemn it outright. This action stands in complete contrast to our values and our traditions. Israel is a tolerant society, but we have zero tolerance for this despicable and hateful act."

Has anyone heard of JJ Luna?
by biometrics inwhen i was younger (20s) i remember hearing an experience at a district assembly about a best-selling author who, in his book, wholeheartedly recommended employing jehovah's witnesses because they were honest, good workers ... etc.
it seems like he couldn't recommend jw's enough.
the speaker went on to read a page or two from the book, and stated it was a glowing recommendation from a 'worldly' author who regarded jw's very highly.

by cedars inin the latest october 15th 2012 watchtower (page 13).... "because of what they perceive as defects in the elders, some individuals who engage in serious wrongdoing in the congregation have refused to appear before a committee of elders assigned to help them.
this could be likened to a patient who loses out on the benefits of a treatment because he does not like something about the doctor.".
sounds like they're now trying to stigmatize those who try to avoid judical action.

The "elders" are congregational managers appointed by The Watchtower Corporation.
The name change to "Christian Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses" does not change the fact that The Watchtower controls the operation of the congregations.
