The picture of the girl appearing in the "Live Forever" book is that of the German actress Pascale Petit.
The Watchtower made unauthorized use of her likeness, I am surprised legal action was not taken against them for doing that!
anyone want to share some things that the watchtower has gotten busted for that even they can't weasle their way out of?
i was thinking about copyrighted images, illegal activity, etc... .
here are a few images they used that they "stole" from others, but claimed as their own.

Stephen Lett shows everyone his Facial EXPRESS-IONS!
there has been some interest recently about the moyle case, and how it may have set a precident in what became the society's disfellowshipping policy.
in july 1939, the chief legal counsel of the watchtower bible & tract society, olin r. moyle, resigned from his position in a protest over conditions at bethel and rutherford's mistreatment of workers.
he did not want to continue living under those conditions and he felt he could effect positive change for his brothers by taking such a stand.
Page two of this thread is broken.
Only the first two postings on that page show completely.
Edited to add:
I am using IE8
this might not work for everyone, but it might for some.. if a person faces disfellowshipping, the person should make the elders prove that they are baptized!.
as far as i know, baptism records are not sent to bethel.. without two witnesses to the event (and the witnesses have to remember seeing the person immersed), and no photos, there would be no proof.. if someone did this, the elders would of course contact bethel for instructions, but what could they do?.
it would put a stop to the elders proceeding with any action..
blondie,
Is it mkr32208's story that you are thinking of?
i wanted to get a list of arguments that illustrate how the watchtower society is or isn't following 1st century christianity today.
thanks again everyone!.
The word clergy can be defined as "The body of people ordained for religious service."
Special pioneers, and certain Overseers, that receive funds from The Watchtower fit the definition of a "Paid Clergy."
i recently attended the second day of the 2 day assembly for safeguarding your mind.
the first talk was entitled "feed your mind at jehovah's table".
the first portion of this talk specifically targeted apostates warning members to not listen to them "even if they were once strong in the truth or had great responsiblity in the congregation".
How often has Watchtower literature quoted material and taken it totally out of its context and making it imply something the original author didn't intend?

AnnB provided this important information:
"If the elders can't find two witnesses to your actual baptism they can fall back on "proof" that two people have heard you identify yourself as a JW and are living as a JW (going out in field service, "making disciples")."
So the "Make them Prove you were Baptized" approach would only work if you had been away from the congregation for so long that no one there remembered you having going out in field service, or you having said that you were a JW.

This action is even better if the person doesn't remember the actual event of being immersed in water themself.
