I remember reading that Rutherford was quoting Kipling when he
made the remark about women being a "bag of bones, and a hank
of hair"....He probably thought he was so cultured, quoting
Kipling like that.

Somebody should have given Rutherford a severe tongue lashing, for
speaking so disrespectfully of women. It appears that no one
around Rutherford had the nerve to do so. (except for Salter, and
Moyle, both of which got the boot from Brooklyn)

Well, I decided to look up the quote, first what "The Judge" said:

"A woman is nothing more than "a hank of hair and a bag of bones."

District Assembly Experience on Volunteering

i seem to recall that on this summer's district assemblies there is an experience given about a woman who was involved in various voluntary community services, but quit them and became a pioneer.

does anyone remember this?

if so, can anyone provide more solid documentation?.

It appears that learning Klingon is also specifically frowned upon.

From the Dec 8, 1995 Awake! article "A Look at Today's Science Fiction".

First, they say there is no need to be judgmental:

"Some may decide that they prefer other forms of reading and entertainment.
But there is no need for such ones to be judgmental of others in this regard
or to make issues over matters of personal choice.-Romans 14:4."

unless you are learning Klingon, which the author of the article feels
is too extreme!

themselves to learning the fictitious language Klingon, which was featured in
Star Trek TV shows and movies. Such extreme behavior does not harmonize
with the Bible's counsel at 1 Peter 1:13: "Keep your senses completely

I wonder if what bothered the writer is the fact that Klingon is a made-up
language, rather than a real language, probably wouldn't like Esperanto
either.

i remember/read somewhere that he was buried at staten island, new york.

can anyone confirm that?

I don't think Beth-Shan exists anymore. Perhaps the bomb shelter under
the "goat's barn" might still exist.

Details when Beth-Shan was demolished might be in the book,

Oops!

Farkel wanted the exact address for Beth Shan! Not Beth Sarim!

The exact address where Beth Shan used to be is probably in the book
by Gruss and Chretien.

If I recall correctly, Beth Shan was in Mission Valley, while Beth Sarim is
located on a hilltop, or plateau, in the Kensington area of San Diego. The
house does overlook Mission Valley, so one might have been able to
see Beth Shan from Beth Sarim.
