There are indeed useful reasons to bring forth information about things that happened 70, 80, or even more years in the past.
the following information might be of interest to some.. the watchtower used to own the wbbr radio station located on staten island, new york.. dr. mae work was an osteopath who worked at bethel during the 1920s and '30s.. in 1902 she received her do diploma after attending a two year course given by the bolles institute of osteopathy located in denver, colorado.. she was also a proponent of the abrams method of diagnosing and treatment of disease.. in 1924 she gave a radio presentation on wbbr about the "abramstreatment" this was followed a few years later in 1928 by a presentation on "osteopathy".

the year is 1969. faithful followers of the watchtower society are gearing up for the imminent end of the system of things just as they had been for the previous ninety years.
a young witness named andrew is trying to decide what to do with his life.
andrew is a smart kid and he has an entire lifetime ahead of him.
The writer who wrote this 1969 article is probably not even alive now.
If he is alive then I doubt that he cares very much about what he wrote 45 years ago.

"Dr. E. Lee Burch, San Jose, Calif., Wednesday was elected president of the American Electronic Research association at its seventh annual convention."
An advertisement for Dr. E. Lee Burch's practice was published in a 1923 college magazine that can be found online at the Internet Archive, www.archive.org.
It is amazing how "Dr." Abrams fooled so many M.D.s into believing his "ERA" methods actually worked.

It is somewhat ironic that a talk about the Ressurrection is followed by a talk about a quack medical treatment!

i've been thinking about how the gb controls jws through the use of short phrases or scripture quotes (often partial quotes ripped out of context).. think of the sound-bite responses you know jws are going to give you in response to points you try to make to them.. ones that come to my mind immediately are:.
-- "the light gets brighter and brighter.".
-- "who, then, is the faithful and discreet slave?".
That is a good list Ding.
Here is the ultimate JW thought stopper.
"Wait on Jehovah."
one thing (among many) that always bothered me about jw teachings is what happens to the soul when we die.
sure god could be capable of creating a body and implanting it with all of our life experiences an memories.
but how would not be a just a clone instead of being actually us?
Does the Watchtower and the JWs even understand the implications of their "resurrection" doctrine?

Here is an illustration to consider.
Suppose I had an expensive Ming vase, and that I was able to scan it completely to the smallest detail and store the "memory scan" in a computer.
Then one day, the Ming vase falls off the shelf and smashes into a million pieces, impossible to put together again.
I take the "memory scan" copy and put load it into a "replicator" machine that is able to create a vase to the smallest detail from the memory scan.
Now, here is the question, is the Ming vase that was created from the memory copy the same as the original Ming vase?
Wouuld it be legal for me to sell the "created" Ming vase as the "original"?
What happense if I were to make several idential Ming vases from the memory scan?
Where is the original Ming vase in comparision to these newly created ones? What is the connection between the old and the new?

The Watchtower edited the original work so as to match their beliefs at the time.
The result was the book "Angels and Women" which is available online at:

Description:
Angels and Women (1924). This book is a revision of the book Seola by Mrs. J.G. Smith. According to The Golden Age magazine (Oct. 27, 1924 p. 35 and Golden Age, July 30, 1924 p. 702), published by the Watchtower Society (Jehovah's Witnesses), Seola was revised at the suggestion of Charles Taze Russell and published as this volume. Editions of the book at the headquarters of the Watchtower Society (Bethel library) state: "Introduction by J.F.R. [Joseph F. Rutherford]. Appendix by C.J.W. [Clayton J. Woodworth]. Written by a brother had been long in the service, was incapacitated, and sought to provide for himself by thus "indirectly" presenting some valuable information. Not altogether up to date, as "Angels" booklet and other information supplements and revises what this work contains."
