  JWdaughter, I've had similar reactions from family. It's just another way of not having to face facts because jws have to stay in their insulated bubble of J-fiction. They can't really help it, though, the brainwashing is deep.

  This sham religion calls itself "the truth", but the real truth is that if you're still in and bring up factual points that expose the Borg you'll get kicked out, and if you're out and bring up factual points that expose the Borg, it doesn't count because you're not "in".

  For real truth lovers, the Borg is a lose-lose situation.

  Great story, thank you both for the posts. I hope that many non-jws and jws read this and realize what a sham this ridiculous 'religion' is, and perhaps some of those scarred by this abuse feel a bit of comfort by the fact that at last, the child abuse and the insidious jw policies to handle it are becoming openly known. While that doesn't provide direct healing, it may help bring some closure.

  Leaving the org and marriage possibly ending

  i was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.

  i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.

  a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

  all come complete with two pictures each.

  I Made the Literature Trolley Run Away Today - Twice

  i popped into town this morning to buy an anniversary card for mrs cofty.

  it is market day on a saturday and it's tourist season so the town was very busy.

  here is a picture of the scene from a year ago... two cult carts were in their favourite place being guarded by none other than one of the elders who was on my judicial committee, his wife and another jw woman in her electric disability buggy.

  So, I became very ill ... what did my loving brothers do?

  recently i have fallen ill with a serious case of chickenpox (shingles).

  three weeks down, high fevers, and the blisters attacked mostly my scalp and face, but then also my whole upper body.

  i looked horrid, truly like a mutant monster out of a nuclear disaster.

  Eden, did not mean to focus on my situation instead of yours (just wanted to share the same point). My mom suffered through a hellacious case of shingles so I feel for your pain on both fronts. Just remember that your scars are proof of your strength. Hugs to you!!

  just a thought... i wonder if anyone has brought to their attention the recent jw.org video from lett (with very dubious timing) suggesting that any and all media reports about how the org handles abuse are lies from apostates, and how no one is more protective of abuse victims than the org ...seems to me that that video is very damning evidence of their attempt to silence victims from coming forward with complaints - further victimizing and traumatizing them.i hope they have seen that video - and i hope they bring it up.

  i am thoroughly enjoying watching the org squirm.

  I feel for you man. Whenever my wife tells me so-and-so said to say hi, or ask me how I am, I always respond "They have my phone number, don't they?"

  Been there, done that. Down with cancer but didn't want the phony casserole brigade so told my family they were not allowed to say why I was at home instead of the meetings. Told the elders who emailed me to feel free to share my email address with those who wanted to contact me, and also my cell phone number. Guess what I got? An email telling me I was obviously a "lost sheep" who needed a shepherding call.

  Not one "how are you?" or "can we bring you anything?" Pioneered for years and this is the response I got.

  That put the bow on the Get Out Now package for me.
