Pretty dumb to blame the Pope for aids!
by Brummie ina spokesman for homosexuality was on tv yesterday blaming the pope for some of the gay people catching aids, based of the popes disbelief in contraception.
then i saw other people echoing this.. how dumb are they?
the pope was also against homosexuality/ sex before marriage but none of them stopped practising sex because of what the pope believed did they?

The only problem I had was that catholic missionaries in Africa were discouraging condom use between married couples even. Now THAT is irresponsibility.

How dumb are they? The Pope was also against homosexuality/ sex before marriage but none of them stopped practising sex because of what the pope believed did they? So why did they obey his "no condom" belief? How does it sound "I practice unsafe sex because the pope says its wrong to wear a condom, he doesnt believe we should have sex either but we take no notice of that"
People who have unsafe sex should not be on TV blaming the pope for thier STDs...how can the pope be to blame for their not accepting responsibility? how dumb.

why it's in poor taste to criticise someone who's dying as opposed to someone who's already dead.
I think people expect mercy to be shown towards a dying man. It seems civilized to us westerners, an unspoken rule is broken when one scoffs at someone so helpless.
Its pointless trying to show mercy to a dead man . So, back to your question, I guess it is poor taste to critisise someone who is dying rather than dead.
On a personal note, I never respected the pope, like you I was raised in a religion that hated him, after I left I still thought him to be totally wrong. However, today I had this discussion with my ex wife about him and I came to realise that everything I know about him has been learned from the WTower. I based my harsh judgements of him on all the misrepresentations I have been fed over the years. Watching the news this evening I see that he has helped so many regardless of their belief. He puts the watchtower to shame in this regards. I wish I had learned from him rather than from the WT, then my judgements may have been more merciful.
He was just a man, I cant view him as anything higher than that, but I respect that he has done more for others than I will ever do, he even visited the man who shot him and forgave him.

I always wonder, "Where were they when the trial was going on?
I took the opposite side and thought the same thing about those who thought him innocent. Never have I been so convinced by a prosecution team, they proved it beyond a reasonable doubt in my eyes but of course it all depended on the jury, even the jury seemed manufactured in this case since they kept sacking and replacing them.
We can all disagree and share our opinions, imo OJ is guilty and I watched the trial everyday religiously. I had no bias when I first tuned in since I didnt even know who he was. Its just my opinion, but guilty as sin.
