First of all.........thank you, Mark Palo, for speaking out. And for Kent & Randy's bringing this information to the web.

And thanks to Nathan Natas (that's satan spelled backwards, btw - a long-standing joke) for asking some difficult - but necessary imho - questions. There was no challenge put forth.....but an honest request for information, and explanations for asking personal questions.

It just makes sense to know a a little pertinent information on both sides. We know how jw's will respond.....we were jw's. But the people of the world respond the same.....no one wants to believe that someone they know (admire/like/love/work with) is a child molester. It's hard for our brain to accept because the person seems so damned normal! So, therefore, the victim/survivor is under suspect - even if it's an enfant. I'm a victim/survivor, and it is part of the process.

To be honest - I had the same questions. Thanks to Mark (hope it's ok with him for me to call him that) for answering. Anyone going after a masters in psych/soc should understand. Congratulations to Mark for succeeding so brilliantly. It's one thing to survive.....it's another to succeed.

As for Greenless? Perhaps now more of his victims will think of speaking out.

Work Situation

i work for california's largest rv dealership and one the nation's largest as well.

my title is finance sales manager.

I assume this was asked.......but didn't see it.

For a company that size - isn't there a written directive of what a receptionist's duties are?

A general conduct code?
Is common courtesy to others an expected part of her job?
A dress code? At least not showing up with one's underwear showing?

If there is any of the above.......are men allowed to show up with their underwear showing - as part of their working attire? If not, why?

As for the discrepancy in time reporting - well, that could be shown on paper.

And really, why haven't you written her up? You are a manager - manage.

Yeah, leaving the jw's is a lot like having a dependency problem (I'm so politically correct) - but having a place to talk (and the web's pretty good for that) really helps.

Yeah, the WTS uses whatever it needs to survive.......rather like vampires. I'm so sorry for your horrible childhood. Congratulations on being able to write about it. It does help, at least it helped me.

It's great that you and your sister can talk together.

There are some people who say that ALL memories not currently remembered are false memories. But then there's the other groups which say some are repressed, some just not remembered (who remembers everything?).........and others who strongly believe in the validity.

I read a good quote one time from some psych - speaking about people with mpd/did (if one believes they exist) "Most of these people live normal lives, just living them uncomfortably." I think that's a great thought because "normal" doesn't mean great in the first place. It's just a much more uncomfortable fit for many people, whatever their problem.

Ah parents. May some of them burn in hell. lol - and I don't even believe in hell.

Chris gave you a good click - there's many threads on this forum about memory, repressed, validity, etc. Lady Lee's website has good information too.

Just so that others realize too.......as of Psych Class 101 one year ago.........the book is HIGHLY influenced to the teaching that False Memory Syndrome is valid......much more valid than "repressed memories." And that memory can easily be influenced/changed.

I believe one of the False Memory Syndrome's most *decorated* psych. is now head of the national group of psych. (whatever that's called). I've read one of her books before - pretty good......but wasn't that hard to see some real flaws. And, being a dummy 101 student....I argued those points with my prof - who actually agreed with me......but wasn't happy with it.

There's many problems with the study of memory. One being.....how does one study it? It's unethical to traumatize a person to a pain point just to see if he'll remember it. Nazis did such things with rifle butts to the heads of children. So it'll probably be argued for generations.

And yes, the CO went over that very article with me.....as my daughter was abused and another woman had given a written account of the same man raping her. However, it was TWO witnesses to two DIFFERENT assaults. Tough break for the victims, eh? "Ah, sister, but wait on Jehovah. He'll make sure all things are put right. Trust in Jehovah."

I took a lot of Prozac instead - and therapy (so did my daughter). It actually worked better. And no, the elders never suggested not seeing a therapist. They said it was a "private decision."

And that is why the Other Core Belief of 1914 can never be given up as erroneous, or downright stupid. How could the Faithful & Discreet Slave Class of 144,000 be chosen by Jesus when he "came upon the clouds" to inspect his servents in 1914....if 1914 isn't accurate? Can't have one without the other.

Oh, such Political Correctness! "rest of the righteous" means Jehovah's Witnesses, mentally retarded, or insane. Because, according to JW's, everyone else living at the time of Armageddon (thanks to Friend for making me clarify) who isn't "righteous" will have been given a chance to accept becoming a JW or be killed by Jehovah.

Btw........"Jehovah's Witnesses, mentally retarded, or insane" puts jw's in great association, eh?

They've found particular success with their personal style of ministry among the growing immigrant communities, as the recent weekend gathering of thousands of Hispanic Jehovah Witnesses at the arena show.

It's primary the first generation of immigrants who want to be accepted, who are looking for "spiritual peace & security" - and are being lovebombed. When the second/third generation get more schooling, more computers, and understand more.......then their numbers will fall too.

i saw the documentary secret lives: hidden children and their rescuers during wwii.

i was really touched by the stories of survival and the courage shown by lot of german families, as well as polish, french, etc, who hid jewish children during the war, even when they knew they could suffer the same fate as the jews if caught.

many times in the watchtower we read stories of german jws who were sent to concentration camps.....but they only went because they were jws, not because they risked their lives in order to save jews.

As for the point that INDIVIDUAL members of ALL groups helped others.........that's pretty well documented. Even some Germans helped Jews.

It was the same as whites helping black slaves escape their owners.

But.......AS A GROUP - JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES BOWED TO HITLER UNTIL HITLER WOULDN'T GIVE THEM THEIR FACTORIES.

I thought the sociological study done on Nazi detained JW's, Homosexuals & political prisoners fascinating.

From my limited understanding:

1. Homosexuals were always held down in distain - so therefore, they were treated as bad before, during, and after the war. Well, much worse during the war. Pity the poor Jewish homosexual.

2. JW's weren't "taken seriously" - so they posed no threat. And Penton ( a once-stout JW author) proves (and some of us have the actual yearbook praising Nazi Germany) that as a UNITED CHRISTIAN GROUP.........THE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES ENCOURAGED NAZIS AGAINST USA & BRITAIN.

Only when Hitler wouldn't give them their factories did the Governing Body offer up the bloody sacrifice of local Jehovah's Witnesses. Btw, they fared well as a unit in concentration camps because they were unified.....like most cult members.

3. Interestingly enough, one of the toughest groups not to break under any circumstance to the Nazis were the Gypsies. Tough people. Many were killed.......few ever gave in.
