  What are some of the worst movies you've seen?

  Interesting that some of my all time favorite movies are on some people's "worst list". Just no accounting for taste. Among the "worst" that are my "best":

  Being John Malkovich

  Being There (I loved Peter Sellers in this)

  Punch Drunk Love (the only redeaming thing Adam Sandler has done, IMO)

  Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - one of those cult films

  Starship Troopers - great parody of sci-fi action films

  What movies are you embarrassed to admit you like? Care to own up?

  For me, the all time most shameful movie I will admit to loving: Ishtar! Every time Warren and Dustin sing one of those awful songs, I just roll on the floor laughing.

  actually Farkel, I was responding based on solicitation of both....but thanks for policing the rules/and guidelines for the thread....I'll consider myself corrected. Maybe I should have put you on my list ? is that what is bothering you?

  bisous: I don't have the impression Farkel is "bothered" as you say. Are you?

  The reason people are confused as to the meaning of the subject line is, it is poorly written and makes NO sense...isn't that ironic? Thus the seemly conflicting responses.

  Why try to interpret what this guy is asking unless he writes it more clearly? If you put a gun to my head (please do not be tempted), I'd say he was hoping to insult some posters and wanted others to jump on the bandwagon so he wouldn't look so mean.

  If I'm wrong, I'll await Celtic's clarification.

  "Eye of the Beholder", another Ashely Judd movie with Ewan McGregor - perfect example of a movie that can stink even with an excellent cast

  "Matrix Reloaded", walked out in the middle and snuck into another movie in the multiplex just so I didn't feel cheated. One of the fight scenes - I swear I'm not making this up - lasted two hours.

  "The Hours", although I usually love Indy films, this one lived up to its name. Needed to have a suicide-prevention line in the lobby.

  Some movies are so bad, they're good. That's why I disagree about "Starship Troopers"; it sunk in a kind of fun way.

  And although I'm a big fan of Vin Diesel, I'm afraid "The Chronicles of Riddick" is going to stink big-time. I'll still see it, though.

  Glad you're feeling better, Karissa, although I know from personal experience you won't heal overnight.

  Just remember how you feel when you're really angry at what he did to you. You may need to rekindle this feeling when you're alone and missing him. It's easy to forget the bad and only remember the fun times you had together.

  I agree with the others who advised you to get rid of his crap ASAP. Remove everything from your home that reminds you of him. Changing your e-mail address and home phone number are easy and cheap ways to stop him from contacting you. Don't be tempted to call his home again.

  His behavior is not unique to Jehovah's Witnesses. I call it "selfish male syndrom" and it is not uncommon. There are men (and plenty of women, too) who will do or say whatever it takes to get what they want, regardless of the consequences to others. That's exactly what this asshole did and when the cost got to be too much, he made the choice that served him best. Just be glad you found out in 5 months rather than several years.

  it only takes one short sentence from the bible to thoroughly demolish the watchtower religion and the doctrine they claim is their most important one.

  this sentence is so crystal clear that there is no way the wts can weasal out of it.

  although their real most important doctrine is that the governing body speaks for god, their claimed most important doctrine begins with the notion that jesus took kingdom power and began reigning in 1914. if that doctrine can be shown to be false, the entire watchtower theology scam crumbles into the trash heap where it belongs.

  Face it, Farkel- God likes dumb people. They make better worshippers. What is that scripture?

  "God has rejected the lofty of this world in favor of the simpletons..." or something like that. In other words, any of you folks have college or read a book or two are right-out! Clear-thinkers always, eventually, inevitable see behind the BS.

  Why do you think dogs don't get resurrected? Who was it who finally pulled back the curtain in The Wizard of Oz to reveal fake wizard? Dorothy? Nope, Toto!

  Why do you think God planted little hidden clues about the trinity in scriptures like John 1:1 and Revelation Alpha texts? If the technology had existed in the First Century to have the Greek Scriptures recorded as audio tapes, we could play it backwards and hear - not "Paul is dead" - but "Yes, we IS a trinity."

  God loves him a good mystery, yeah he does.

  When reading scripture, the most simple, straightforward interpretation is ALWAYS the wrong one. That's why we need the FDS to write 6 books on each and ever word recorded in the Bible for us silly beings to understand it!

  For example:

  • Jesus is already "standing", yet he can still "stand up" at the appointed time.
  • Jesus is the gate, the gatekeeper, and the pen (and possibly the sheep-dip)
  • Every eye can see Jesus when he returns, yet he's invisible

  Easy/clear=from Satan

  Complex/nonsensical=Real Truth

  Euphemisms for cursing among JWs

  in an effort to show that they had put on a 'new' personality, many who joined the wtbts would adjust their speech patterns to avoid common expressions of cursing or profanity.

  yet there would still arise times when they would become frustrated, angry or disgusted at someone or at a situation, and wish to express their feelings.

  here are a couple of substitutes for cursing heard among jws ...... forget you.

  As a teen, I was corrected for using common expressions such as "that sucks" or "you turkey" because such were associated with sexual acts. Of course, as the innocent child I was, I was completely unaware that these were sexual terms...at least until the elders clued me in.

  In trying to protect my sweet little mouth, they opened up a whole new curiosity for me.
