My beef is: I resent the fact that I am punished for being upper-middle income, single and no kids. Where's my tax relief? I'm working my ass off and just because I'm not procreating, I don't get my $400 per kid?
Why reward people with big families?
the senate passed the tax-cut today.
i'm mainly for it but i can see where there might be some problems with it.what do you think?.

what's a kingdom song you can remember singing that gives you the creeps now?
mine is "move ahead" i think that was the title, anyway it has so much rhetoric... but the tune is so darn catchy.... darn.... in my opinion, those songs are the perfect example of mind control.
move ahead.. move ahead ... blah blah blah blah blah .
Pralis:
Your description of the convention and the sister in the horrible outfit had me laughing out loud. Great imaging on your part!
I always love reading the "Kingdom Song" threads, because no matter who you "were" as a JW or who you "are" since leaving, the songs always evoke such vivid memories. Almost everyone has a story.
Music is a very powerful memory aid and this fact is not lost on the Borg. Music has been used to stir people to action since man first learned to bang two sticks together. I can still remember sitting in the big conventions in tears when the last song was sung.
My sister and I used to have to sing "Balsam in Gilliad" and "Jehovah God is My Shepherd" at Witness funerals. For a few years, we were a featured Duo. I still hate the words to those songs.
Worst lyrics? For me, it was Nazarite song: "Naaaazarites, how CAN we be like them....They cut their hair and did not get laid..."

why is it that every time there is an argument on this forum, there are at least 5 to 7 threads that pop up talking about how we need to make up, how we should get over it, and how we need to start over/ .
none of them point directly or quote directly from the original flame thread but all beat around the bush though we all know what they are talking about.. do those threads really do anything to help the situation or do they continue to pour salt on an open wound?.

Perhaps new threads pop up because the one we wanted to comment on has been locked? As in "discussion closed"?
Such frustration can lead to new threads surfacing because someone had something (in their opinion) important to say on the original and could not.
Just a thought.....
franz schubert was an austrian composer who at one time studied with the infamous antonio scalieri.
those of you who watched the movie "amadeus" will remember scalieri.
schubert was born in 1797 and died in 1828 at the tender age of 31. even so, his music shows an incredible amount of maturity.
Another flawless performance of a great composer. Thank you and thank you. I'm adding this to my collection.
BTW, can I have a CD too??

well i finally did it today, got to the dentist, they had to pull out 2 teeth and i'm in line for a "bridge" whatever that is...... my face feels sore, my head aches, and it feels like i got this huge crater in the back of my mouth......my dentist says its ok, i had too many teeth at the back anyway as my wisdom teeth have come through.
even still, i can't help but hate the dentist.
they always say the same thing..."pop yourself up on the chair" "this won't hurt" "you're gonna feel a bit of pressure here"..... and the classic "sit up and have a rinse now"....
A "Bridge" in this context, is a fixed prosthesis to fill in a gap where there are missing teeth. The two teeth on either side of the missing tooth (teeth) are strengthened using porcelain crowns. They become the anchor, or abutment to the bridge. A "pontic", or fake tooth fills in the gap.
In the USA, a three unit bridge can be between $1400 and $3000, depending on the materials used and the quality of the laboratory which fashions the device. Ask about the composition...is it porcelain fused to precious metals? Do they have a replacement policy if it fails within a year or two?
There are many good reasons to fill in the spaces of missing teeth (besides looking like a prize-fighter). Teeth tend to drift or move into the empty space. The opposing teeth may grow longer as they tend to do when there is nothing hitting them when you bite or chew.
Make sure before you spend a lot of money if your dentist does a lot of this kind of thing and if he/she does good quality work. A well-made bridge should last most of your life if your gums remain healthy. (Keep up with regular dental cleanings or you'll loose all your teeth.)
Another alternative is an implant. You can consult with an implant specialist to find out if this is feasible. The cost will likely by more (at least it is in this country), but at least you will not be grinding down healthy abutment teeth to have the same result. Implants are really cool: a metal post is placed in dental bone and bone material is actually grafted on. Then, a tooth is placed that fits into the post, like a screw. It's very high-tech.
See, aren't you glad you asked? What? You didn't???

"A Mighty Wind" is my pick for best Indy picture of 2003....so far...
to those of us who have been jehovah's witnesses, nothing that follows will suprise you.
to lurkers, i hope that you honestly consider what has been written.
to those interested in the faith, please be aware that this is how you will be expected to behave if you join the jehovah's witnesses.
Very well put. When you cut through all the crap, this is the basis for being a JW. Not adherance to the Scriptures, not following the pattern set out by Jesus Christ, not being a decent person. Instead, it is following without question the dictates of the self-appointed "Faithful and Discreet Slave" in every aspect of your life.
I wish I could find a way to send this to my dub-daughter.
Thank you,

just asking because i'm wanting to expand my musical horizons, looking for some new artists to get into.. my all time most-listened-to cd (and we're talking hundreds of listenings):.
thanks for sharing!
I’ve just discovered yet another way to burn up my hard-earned meager income: Digital surround-sound recordings to play on my DVD. I just bought a collection of Bach sacred music with choir and pipe organ. To stand in the middle of my living room with this cranked up all the way is more spiritual than I ever felt at a Kingdom Hall. I could almost believe in God again.
should we ask simon to put a singles page on here?
like: "male seeks female with boat and motor.
must be able to clean and cook fish and remember to keep refrigerator stocked with beer at all times.
Yeah, well...it's getting a bit old to me too, Xena! I've asked a number of times, but I think Simon is running a "three-for-one" special for Wasasister.
What's even more frustrating is that about half the time I hit "submit", my posts are lost. I've taken to copying to the clipboard every time.
Good thing I'm not one to get into a flame war or other heated debate. I'd very soon use up my limit without saying anything!
