You are kidding right ? Making a joke ? Read what Jesus said ; He said

when you do this for "the least" or the least in society, the marginalized,

the weak, the throw away people, the poor the street people, the widows the

orphans, when you show kindness and help to those who cannot help themsleves,

you are doing it to HIM. Do you understand ? He meant he lives in people,

and how you treat other people is how you treat the Christ. He counts it as

a personal favor. We are supposed to be God's hands and feet in this world.

We are supposed to create the paradise on earth with our actions.

not being involved in the community - Re-read your own post - its scary -

Which your masters the WT "governing body' tells you this only 'applies' to

brain cells working??? Wake up to this selfish cold hearted self serving

interpretation that is an excuse to not help anyone. You do NOT have

"special knowledge " The WT doctrines are all second hand, copies of

late 19th Century Adventism,Restorationism,Millerite chronolgy and

Russells facination with Pyramids and numerology. The old books have

the "wings of Isis" of the covers. You are in a CULT.

Smartwater- FRUITS are supposed to be the way you treat others- read the example

of the Good Samaritan- who helped a complete stranger ( and the Samaritan was not a jew)

Jesus says the Samaritan was righteous while the official "organization" Priests and religious

people who walked by were condemned by their judgemental attitude and failure to act.

FRUITs ?? The Watchtower does no community work, build no hospitals, does not have

any poverty relief outreach, does not house the homeless, feed the hungry, or take any

interest in anyone but themselves. They publish magazines, read the magazines and

pass out the magazines - These are not "fruits" this WT organization is a dried up dead

branch bearing no fruits. Think about it.

Smartwater - Blood Guilty - is a term from the Hebrew Torah meaning:

Blood was offered to Idols, Christians were to refrain from things offered

JW's died because of WT rules - and THEN they changed the rules because of wrongful

death law suits. A faction of blood is plasma, red cells separated from white.

Its a dishonest way to protect themselves legally. The LIFE is what is sacred.

Perserving life is sacred, killing people by failing to provide medical care is

Blood Guilty.

The Nicene Creed ? Adopted in 325 AD.

Eastern Orthodox do not recognize this creed.

The Nicene Creed was a political doctrine linking Rome

and Constantine as the ultimate "governing body" type authority.

It is a creed of Catholicism, specifically Roman Catholic, Pope led authority.

The Emperor Constantine's "conversion" to Christianity was a political move.

Many factions of original Christianity were overthrown simply because Constantine favored

Athanasius over Arius. The Roman church won because it had the State of Rome and

its military might on the side of Constanine and his "Creed". Other Christians present

at the council had no chance, such as; Ossius of the Alexadrian party, Arius, and

Eastern Bishops. The Creed has been questioned since its inception: Reginald Pecock,

Bishop of St Asaph ( 1444 ) denied the apostalic authorship of the Creed and rejected

the Descent to hell. Archbishop Ussar ( 1647) also questioned the Creed, and he read

Latin and Greek and Hebrew. The religion of the first century was a pure religion of

Spirit with a complete absence of organization.

Quarterback - Really?You are a self satisfied Elder who strongly believes in the

Watchtower Society and the Governing Bodie's authority and see them as the

"sole channel of communication between mankind and God" You have a position

of authority in a male dominated organization, and you selectively surround

yourself with socially useful and personally supportive people. Your son is in the

music industry. One son disfellowshipped? This idea: that Christianity as defined

by Jesus Christ, obligates you to render aid, like the Good samaritan you are

supposed to be; this is a concept you seem unable to even remotely grasp.

And you hang out here ? That is a disfellowshipping offense in itself.

Are Western values compatible with Christian values?

i was going to say judaism, christianity, and islam but since i know little of judaism and islam so i decided to stick primarily with christianity.

i have found myself thinking that the values preached in the bible are not compatible with western (ie american) values.

however, it all seems to depend on who you really talk to and what he or she believes.. for example, the jehovah's witnesses preach a lot about how women are suppose to be submissive to men and yet at the same time preach how this does not mean that women are suppose to be seen as inferior to men.

Western Values ARE a product of the the Bible.

Christians were Jews who believed Jesus, to be the Christ or

promised Jewish Messiah. Christians followed the teaching of the

Torah, in that they read the Law and valued its principles, the ten

commandments and the principles of social justice for all in the community.

The Torah and its principles on social responsibilty, example: liabilty as in the

law saying you must put a parapet, a protective wall, or railing, around your

flat rooftop, because if someone falls you are resonsible for their death by

creating a hazard. Also laws on responsibilty to the poor, property rights,

paying a just wage to workers, not being cruel to animals - all these are

Weatern Values and embodied in the Torah.

I don't think anybody heard him. He also gave the Good Samaritan

parables and the Watchtower manages to ignore that completely,

as well as Jesus statement that women and men are all

equal in the eyes of Christ and God And supercedes cultural norms.

Subjection of Women was the original "curse" after the garden of Eden.

Women being in "subjection to men" goes back to the "Curse" in Genesis

( first book of the Bible Hebrew scriptures ) where God says

"FROM NOW ON, your husband will dominate you" This was

part of the CURSE when they were thrown OUT of the garden of Eden.

Then in the "New Testament" (or scriptures written after the death and

resurrection of Christ), it is written; "The Curse was nailed to the cross"

which was why women became prominent in the very early Church.

But that was stomped out by Organizations.

Be careful of expecting the Watchtower to practice what it preaches

being in subjection IS inferior. There are no female Ministerial Servants,

Elders, or even ushers, and no members of the governing body,even though

this is supposed to be a God ordained group. God ordained women to positions

of authority in the past. Deborah was both Judge and Ruler of Isreal for 40 years

and the Bible says when Deborah ruled there was peace and prosperity in Israel.

A dollar short and a life time too late. I hear you Julia and I

don't mean this as invalidating your experience.

Single women and single men usually had no

social problems in my congregation.

It was the SINGLE MOM, that

suffers the most in my observation.

She is last on the list. She probably works and has all the home

responsibilities and her children are considered "bad associations"

because they do not come from a squeaky clean Theocratic Family

I remember being a single Mom, snubbed in the congregation,

I was young and attractive, wives did not want me around their husbands,

Single men wanted "no baggage" and they had plenty of single women to

choose from. My daughter needed clothes, I needed clothes, I was working and

paying all the bills, and going to college, exhausted most of the time, turning down

dates with "worldy" men - what an idiot I was. My daughter lonely, no witness mom

wanted to include her, she is of mixed race, it was the seventies, in a white town,

I was viewed with suspician. Yet I thought these people were my "family" what delusion.
