Technology ?? and they use the Photo Drama of Creation as
an example ? It was a Magic Lantern Show !! and films were
already common as well as recordings, Russell invented NOTHING.
Including the information in the show which was pure William Miller.
Adventist teachings.

"That is progress. No other organization, religious, political,
military, no commercial organization on earth is translating
so many languages." (700 languages claimed by the WT )WHAT ? This is deceptive, they translated WHAT ? NOT the BIBLE !!
As of late 2013, the complete New World Translation has been published in 63 languages with the New Testament available in an additional 58 languages.
COMPARE THIS TO THE COMPLETE BIBLE TRANSLATED INTO 491
LANGUAGES BY THE UNITED BIBLE SOCIETY AND THE THE NEW TESTAMENT
HAS BEEN TRANSLATED INTO 1,257 LANGUAGES, the WT can't touch this number.( compare that to the WT 63 languages, for its "silver sword")
Its a blatant bragging boastful outright LIE.
http://www.unitedbiblesocieties.org/sample-page/bible-translation/
The figures for 2013 record that the complete Bible has now been translated into 491 languages and the New Testament into 1,257 languages. These 1,257 translations are NOT by the WT its by the United Bible SocietiesWatchtower online library from JW.org contradicts the
speaker on their own web site: NWT

Corruption in China
by fulltimestudent inconsider this scenario:.
a young lawyer is elected mayor of the city and promises to rid it of the corruption it's famous for.
the problem is that most of the corruption he's vowed to eliminate is caused by the crooked political machine that helped elect him.. .

To fully understand the underlying belief system
that runs China, read the iChing and the 36 Strategies.
We assume all cultures are of the ten commandment sort.
They are not.

How the Supreme Courts decision could spill into the JW world.
by problemaddict inso in the 5-4 decision today, the courts said an employer could not be forced to cover things mandated by the aca (specifically birth control was the point of contention), if doing so would violate their religious beliefs.. nuts.
just nuts.. here is what ruth ginsberg wrote in her dissent.
its 35 pages, but this stood out to me for obvious reasons.. "would the exemption...extend to employers with religiously grounded objections to blood transfusions (jehovah's witnesses); antidepressants (scientologists); medications derived from pigs, including anesthesia, intravenous fluids, and pills coated with gelatin (certain muslims, jews, and hindus); and vaccinations[?

Sir82 - I knew of a special pioneer then Bethel slave, who
dedicated his entire life to the organization and while serving
at Bethel, got cancer, and they did just that, showed him the door.
This was in the 1980's I am astounded that they still do this today ?
You talk to anyone "inside" and they deny everything.
Say I have read it on the Iternet and that it has all changed now.

" too much time on their hands" ????
I was a single mother, working at various jobs
to pay the rent, feed and clothe myself and my child
and pay my own way through university, which I succeeded
at and then ran my own business. I was also (incredibly)
and active JW. There were three times as many men
than women in the jw organization, and the men were
janitors or did menial labor and had no education.
The men who were unmarried were looking at women 20
years their junior. "Worldly" men who tried to date me
were put off, when they found out I was a witness.
The Elders were intimidated by the fact I made more money
than most of them. I was under suspician for having gone
to university and for being a single mom and for asking too
many questions. My only mistake was not to leave when
my daughter was very young and drag her through those
destructive and isolated years. The few creative people I knew
have left long ago, except for some businessmen who profit
by the "brothers" and those who like the fantasy that being
an elder makes them "important". Or men whose wives would
leave them in a heartbeat if they left the WT.

The Ravings of Trolls Distracts FOCUS From Real Watchtower Scandals
by cofty inmy thread was inspired by gentledawn's insightful comment about the effect the events in wales had on her jw husband.... hope any lurkers out there can filter out the signal (storys and experiences like this) to noise (the current trolls running amok on the forums) ratios.
this the problem with those who focus on outrageous fantasies about the watchtower.
it distracts from the real issues that need to be highlighted.. what happened in wales was for real.

Old Goat:
2 Corinthians 5:17 So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away—look, what is new has come! 18 And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 19 In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!”
This was NOT about a "select group" It was for ANYONE
- it is a message of reconcilliation
for ALL mankind through Christ - NOT through a "governing body"

Braincleaned - How you became an atheist I do not know - But you can
have any idea you want since you have free will and your own mind.
I am just saying; telling them you are an atheist will reduce your credibility
and lower you in their estimation and they won't even "get it"
Its difficult to go from Biblical arguments to "I am an atheist" in the
same letter, thats all I am saying. Your first premise was brilliant, in
pointing out they fail their own criteria and fail as Christians.
You had me at; "embezzlement of Christ’s authority as mediator"

She is Going to Talk to the Elders About My Questions...What Should I Expect?
by HeyThere inso one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues i am having with the religion.
so i told her, rather carefully, how i discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse.
she was horrified.
