  Is there a freedom of choice? (rree will)

  some time ago, i had a discussion with a college, a creationist, who belived that everything was already known before it happened.

  (predestination).. not many people believe that there is no freedom of choice.

  it is also the wts doctrine.

  Most mainstream Christians believe that god is outside of time, meaning he can see the beginning, the end and all in-between simultaneously. He can not look from “now“ to the future or the past since he is not in any now. He sees all things that, for us, have been and will be. I say “see” but it is not “seeing” since to see implies one perspective, we are trapped in the cage of language. I am here now, for me the past is gone and the futures not yet come, but for god all are one. That is why the Christians clam Christ is on the cross in perpetuity.

  If god (for lack of a better words) sees, has seen, will see me typing how does that take my free will away?

  Living in a multi ethnic community I see a lot of children of mixed race and wouldn't be surprised if in a few hundred years (peanuts to evolution) this will be the norm.

  That is evolution in action.

  light skinned people evolved the light skin to get more vitamins from the sun. the light people lived in an area of the world that made it necessary to cover there skin most of the year. With dark skin they would suffer a vitamin deficiency but with light skin they remain healthy

  no longer being a christian, it has become a mind opening experience to look back and see certian things i once ignored or just brushed off.

  yet now i can not help but see these things and wonder why other christians do not.. if you have ever studied greek, roman or any other cultures religions in history.

  then you have no doubt read their legends, about gods and how things came to be, and no doubt you have enjoyed these and at the same time you must have wondered how people actually bought this enough to make it a religion.

  Adam translates earth and eve means life; one representation is that a virgin birth is a metaphor for a person whose nature is not that of the earth but of the heavens.

  People have to see this and it lowers my respect for the religion all the more, when I realize that it was just another example of the Meditereanian religions sharing legends and passing them into their culture, with their own certian flare.

  I think a Christian might look on this as fine. After all if there were a god then sheath know him with out a bible. He taught of him without a bible. The stories of god would be much older then the book the Catholic's canonized. They would have undergone many retellings buy good and bad men before the bible authors were inspired to set them down.

  Is it time to demollish the welfare state in the UK

  it's an unfortunate fact that the uk is gradually slip sliding away in the ranks of great achieving countries.. our tennis players aspire to greatness but slip at the last, and often first hurdle.

  our national health service though catering to all, is no where near the quality it should be.

  i can vouch for that fact from last weekends experience, having to call an emergency doctor out to see my son, he missed totally what was wrong with him.

  There are many countries around the world without a social infrastructure unfortunately non-of them are better places to live then the nations with social services. If you would like to make an industrial nation a dollar a day 3rd world state just remove the protections and financial safety nets that exist for its people.

  also want to thank ray franz for his two books which were very critical and key for me finally shedding the last few watchtower shackles which really brought their walls crumbling down for me.. ticker

  i am a rather newly minted christian.

  i have been exposed to many different beliefs besides the jw, but i tend to take more of a "mere christianity" view of salvation.. here is a summary of that view.. i believe there is a god, evidenced by an innate natural law that most understand, aspire to, and expect from others.

  laws require a lawgiver.

  sorry i didn't get back to you sooner.

  As far as I am concerned who is “saved” and who, if any, not is nun of my bees’ wax, I can’t judge for Jesus. The guilty man next to Jesus didn’t ask for forgiveness nor did he say he believed in anything. All he said was if you are remember me. Bottom line in my book is Jesus does the taking, as he will with grace for all.

  The bible is full on interrelated stories and metaphors. If you are getting into it here are a couple of aspects you might enjoy thinking on.

  The Lamb of God was judged innocent. He was sacrificed by the high priests of Israel. No bone was broken, blood was spilled, and so on...(look into what it takes to make an exicptible sacrifice under the old law) the sacrifice was excepted by god. Under the old laws who benefited from a sacrifice and who did Jesus sacrifice himself for?

  Another parallel I find interesting is that of the lives of Josef the son of Israel and that of Jesus piticulearly in relation to equality with his master. Note Josef is equal to the master but for the bride, the jailer but for the key, the king but for the throne, what does that say about Jesus being given, the bride, the key, and the throne.

  Races - where do they come from?

  even when i still believed in the bible as god's word, i never understood how (at least) three races came from 2 persons.

  i sometimes thought, maybe adam was black and eve white, but where does the mongol race come from then?

  There is only the human race, color of skin, hear, shapes of features are all only family resemblance. We have created arbitrary distinctions based on skin color. Races are only man made classifications that do not exist outside of our need to group “like” things together.
