i've been a member of this forum for about 4 years now.
there are members who have been here less time than me who are now "jedi masters" and "senior members" yet i'm still a newbie.
is it because i only have 61 posts?

Is it because I only have 61 posts? Then that would mean my progress here, in terms of a title is based on the amount of time spent posting... humm.
I guess that would explain why those who spend few hours in field service don't get titles like "Elder" or "Pioneer"
Shouldnt membership ranking be based on the years you were a member, rather than how active you are.
I'm not upset by my ranking, it just seemed odd, as I responded to a post and went to check it and saw I was still a newbie. Since I hardly ever post I don't get to see that and it seemed very WTish to me. What do you think?

have you noticed those exotic locations some of our posters come from?.
some of you sure come from some exotic places!
you have the rest of us jealous.. but wait a minute.......is it possible our profiles don't tell where we really are at all?.
Philadelphia, birthplace of our great nation. Come visit our new Constitution Center. It has state of the art interactive audio and visual effects. You can be sworn in as President of the United States by Chief Justice William Rehnquist, you can be a signer of the consitution and you can serve on the supreme court. My kids loved it.
By the way the elders don't know I'm an apostate just inactive. So I can't tell what part of the city. You might say, I'm in the witness protection program

P.S. this post will self destruct in 30 seconds lol
i just returned from the building site of the new kh.
i had never seen a quick build.
it kind of made me sad, i saw so many old friends that i used to know.
The local congregation does own their building but they can't make any major changes to it without the ok of the WT. I think this idea of the WT owning the loca hall started from the fact that the WT does own all assmebly halls. The local congregations were loaned the money (with intrest) from the WT and when it's paid for, they still they don't own the assmebly hall. Even worse they are charged rent every time they have a Circuit Assmebly or SAD.

has the wts called off their legal dogs?
Is there a Zip file for all the BOE letters?
there was a character in the matrix who, after being released from the matrix, got tired of the real world and wanted to have his memory erased and his body put back in the factory so as to live out his days in a dream world.
have any of you ever wished you didn't know what you now know about the wt, or wish you could go back to the life where you had a sure hope and belief as to what the future would bring without your current knowledge about the 'truth'?
being 'unplugged' does have it's disadvantages.

Being 'unplugged' does have it's disadvantages. In my opinion it is a terrible thing to loose faith and belief in a power greater than ourselves. I've lost that, I no longer believe in anything related to religion.
What do you think? Are there disadvantages to knowing the 'truth' is a lie?

on my wife's job, she is one of about 10 jw's employed there.
recently one of them found out the assistant manager (who never told anyone she was ever a jw) was raised a jw and has been disfellowshipped for the last 10 years.
needless to say this news spread quickly amongst the jw's there, and of course they all started shunning this person.
They all stooped speaking to Jane (not her real name) instead would walk right by her as if she wasn't there. If they had work issues to discuss they would go to another manager so as to avoid even work contact with her.
The boss there over the years had taking a special liking to the JW's, giving them privileges and favors because he admired their moral lifestyle and their dedication to helping others to learn about the bible. He would even give them time off with pay to go to assemblies and conventions. He would bend the rules and allow them to bring their kids to work on days where there was no school, and even let them witness to others on the job. Well, recently that all ended suddenly. He has done a complete 180 and is now extra strict with JW's making sure they follow every rule to the letter. He posted signs warning all employee's there is to be no proselytising at the work place.
My wife said 'he used to be so nice' he would usually give her a nice warm greeting, often commend her on how well she dresses, joke around with her. But lately, she said he would hardly even say good morning. As she began to talk to the other JW's there, she found that she was not alone, in fact all the JW's there had stories to tell of how they experienced this new rougher treatment. They were puzzled as to the complete change around in the boss' behavior. It took them about a week or so to put it together that the boss saw how they were treating Jane and was upset by it.
My wife said those who follow Jehovah's laws will always be persecuted. I just had to smirk at that one. I however have mixed feelings about this whole situation. On the one hand I'm glad the JW's there got the same treatment they were dishing out. However it has impacted on my life financially. All those paid days off come in handy, not to mention not having to pay for child care every time schools are closed. But it won't change our lifestyle much, I guess it's good seeing the JW's get some 'come upins' even though it means tightening the financial belt a little.

THE BIRDS RULE AND THE PACKERS DROOL LOL JUST KIDDING WE PHILLY FANS LOVE THE PACKERS .........UH NOW THAT IS LOL it was so gracious of them to get clobbered just so we could get the #1 status we so rightly deserve
Now what about Tampa Bay did they win if so that would force Green Bay to play a wild card game instead of getting a first round bye. Wow what a devistating drop, to go from possibly getting home field throughout to just bearly makeing the playoffs!
When the Eagles open their new stadium next year the city should sell Veterens Stadium to the JW's. I'd rather see them have it then to see it destroyed. It should be a protected landmark. I love the Vet.
Anywy GO EAGLES
damn right!
i know the jws by their fruits!.
i know christianity by its fruits!.
Religion in poetic terms:
The Void
Endless is the path and winding the road
that leads through the void and many are the
ones finding it
It's neither dark nor light but opaque and it's
ambivalence is exemplified through it's
malice intent
It's temporal displacement is evident, it transcends time and age and exists generation after generation
It is the role of the damned to walk the
course set before their feet
The void is a world were the undead reside
where nothing is real except the void itself
It traps it's unwitting victims who are
unaware and weak minded
It divides us and tells us to have faith in HIM
when what they really want is for us to have faith in them
the void requires total submission which is to believe without question
question them not, as not to anger the beholder of your faith
I believe, not in the void but, only that it exists
It must be exposed if the TRUTH is to survive.

wow!
let's see, in this one issue -- november 1st 1995 watchtower -- they get rid of the "1914 generation" false prophecy, and they say that children must confront their molesters!
a time to keep awake .
Undisfellowshipped, this was the very article that ended up freeing me from the grasp of the Watch Tower. When this article came out I was serving as an elder, when I read it, for the first time in my almost 30 year association with the Society, I began to doubt. If you would like to read my story it is posted here: http://www.jwfiles.com/jws-leaving/william.htm ; At this point I doubted they were being lead by Jehovah. I told them I no longer qualified to be an elder because to me an elder (actually all JW's) are supposed to believe everything coming from the Society.
If the Society had said they miscalculated or took the blame for the almost 50 years of telling us that the generation of 1914 will by NO MEANS pass away, it would been better in my opinion than blaming the whole association of brothers. While I was struggling with this new article I reasearched the use of the term 'this generation' and found amazing quotes:
"Eager to see the end of this evil system, Jehovah's people have at times speculated about the time when the "great tribulation" would break out, even tying this to calculations of what is the lifetime of a generation since 1914..." Watchtower Nov. 1, 1995
It's stuck me as odd for them to say that when they were wrong about something, but when they are printing it and are convinced it is correct, then the food is said to be coming from the Faithful Slave. Now, when it is obvious to them that it is in error, then it came from "Jehovah's people" it makes it seem as though we came up with this calculation on our own, that botherd me.
"Jehovah's prophetic word through Jesus Christ is: 'This generation [of 1914] will by no means pass away until all things occur" Watchtower 5/15/84
"this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away." Awakes prior to Nov. 95 pg 4
They took thier interpetation of the term 'this generation' and attached Jehovah's name to it, saying it was His Prophetic word and His Promise. According to the bible this made them false prophets they made a promise in the name of God that he did not state or tell them to make.
Deut.18: 20-22 "The prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: 'How should we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken? When the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak."
This was not just getting a wrong date as in the 1975 situation, to me that was an honest mistake and Jehovah's people in the past have made many mistakes. But this went further, they did more than just state what they think was is going to happen, they said it was the word of God, and it of course was not. When I stepped aside from serving as an elder, my fellow elders could not believe I was making such a major issue of this. To them this was not a problem. I did not have my reasearch to show them the above quotes, as I had not looked it up yet. But I just knew something was very wrong with this organization and I could no longer be responsible for teaching it's doctrine. I did not leave entirely at that point, but later after the research I did stop going altogether.
I thank them for this article, if not for it or something simular I probly would still be a JW.
