  Watchtower and sex

  ok maybe this is a dumb question, but i really am curious.

  why does it seem that fornication is the only "real" sin in the jw religion?

  i mean people can slander, be gluttonous, get drunk and have unethical business practices, but god forbid you should have a little sex.

  "The Note"

  at the 1994 district convention in bismark, north dakota, (could possibly have been 93) my sister wrote a note to her friend and tossed it in the garbage.

  the note contained a discussion about going to boy's hotel rooms after the sessions ended, and other troublesome activities, including lying to the parents about what my sister and her friend were doing.. presumably, an attendant found this note in the garbage and turned it into the elders.

  on the last talk of the last day of the convention, the note was read out loud to the entire audience, along with the warning that "whoever you are, we will find you.

  Assemblies are pretty tightly structured. It's almost unheard of to deviate from the program in any way. I've heard a couple of these stories before over the years and went to the trouble of running them down. The ones I checked were simply not true. My favorite was the drunk driver that killed someone and was disfellowshipped on the spot by a committee consisting of the DO, CO, and Assembly Chair.

  I happened to know the DO, CO and Assembly Chair, got some real blank looks on that one.

  i know that honest-hearted ones here are thoroughly sick of friend's ill-disguised, legalistic, nitpicking, ground-shifting, form-over-substancing, necrophilia-inducing attempt to deny that the setup and conduct of the watchtower society serves excellently to encourage pedophilia...   Having been in charge of cleaning at a number of assemblies I can assure that every piece of paper in every trash can is read by specially trained Brothers who are charged with ferreting out just such misdeeds. I remember fondly when we finally received the ultraviolent lamps so we could read things that were being written in invisible ink.

  I know of a number of elders that have been removed for bad advise, or acting outside policy in matters similar to the discussion here. In fact one whole body in my area was removed, essentially for 'lording it over' the flock and having two sets of standards, one for their families and one for everyone else. So it does happen, just not often enough.
