by Its so simple ini have been a jw for more than 10 years and less than 30. i'm not naive about the ways of the borg.
i was a hot shot jw at one time, one of the few that enjoyed 90% acceptance from my audience.
this is one of the things that has brought me some trouble.

Another Busted Family
by 95stormfront init seems the wt god has successfully busted up another family.. my wife informed me that one of her friends husband gave her an ultimatum; it's goona be either the jw religion or him and she chose to follow wt doctrine rather than keep her family together.
another who's so-called taken stand for the trooth.
my wife is just berating the guy for leaving his family, but in my opinion it was not he who left, but his wife.

Geez. That's a tough one !
I couldn't imagine giving my wife an ultimatum..me, or the religion. Especially if there are kids involved ?
I think one might be best to be a false JW and go with the flow, and hope that surely but slowly, you are able to de-program the spouse. ( shuddering at the possibility )

What is your worst fear?
by Scully ina recent death in my family triggered my worst fear - as irrational as it may sound - into a very real possibility.. let me explain: as a global culture, we simply accept that when someone dies, those who care about them will want to gather and offer a meaningful tribute to the person and those who survive them.
with regard to my recently deceased family member - her own children decided against holding a memorial service for her surviving family, which included two children and their respective spouses, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
yes, we are spread out over 2000 miles.

Hey Scully. Nice to see you " up and at em "
My worst fear.....waking up and discovering myself in a freakin KH
Seriously. My worst fear would be to lose my best friend, my wife. She IS the better half, and I would be lost without her.

i was looking through some old wedding day pics of me and my wife, forty-one years ago tomorrow btw, and i came across this one.

Yeah that brings back memories, but none of them good !
bug I think you're right about hall furnishings. Could have been any of the halls I attended in the 60's. Same tacky floor tiles, metal chairs that made your butt fall asleep, and how bout that podium ! LOL

Why the Stagnation?
by Stephanus inposting seems to have slowed down incredibly in the last few days.
is this some sort of frustration with the newlook board mainifesting itself?

Perhaps the lag times for posts to reappear on the active page, has something to do with it.
When someone starts a new thread, and it dosen't come bact to Active immediately, no one may notice, and when it does appear, it can be 2-3 pages back.
Kinda hard to keep the momentum going when that happens! Kinda like throwing out a boomerang, and it dosen't come back .

Advice You'd Give Your 12-Year-Old Self?
by SYN inthis topic came up on slashdot, where some of the replies were...interesting, to say the least.. what would you guys say to yourselves, if you could send your 12-year-old self a message?.
i know that was about the age i began to read really well, and only five years later i left "the truth", so it was a crucial point in my life, as it is in the lives of many...?.
"hello self, this is...yourself speaking.

Seriously, it's been brought home to me on many occasions that you often don't realise the good effects you can have. Then later you find that you have had a very profound effect on someone's life.
