what i am about to state here has been said many times before in various ways, but i am offering some observations that i made as a bookstudy conductor over a period of 12 years, 9 of those as an elder, and before that as an ms filling in.. i was the type of conductor who would attempt to 'probe beneath the surface' as it were, when i conducted.
i was often amazed and sometimes a bit frustrated (though i tried never to be impatient with the people there) by the lack of comments at the bookstudy that would offer anything more than just a re-read of what the paragraph said.
i realize that many folks have busy lives and of course have little time for extra thought or research.

sars, the new deadly virus that seems to be spreading quickly round the world, is very worrying but is not getting much attention i think because of the war.. scientists have been saying for some times that we are overdue for a pandemic of spanish flu proportions and this could be it !.
in just a few days / weeks it seems to have reached most major countries, infected thousands and killed more people than the iraqi's have.. should we be concerned?
SARS has been the main headlines in the newspaper here now for 3 days.
Last night they announced that all hopsitals and medical facilities here are now under quarantine. Not a good thing for the company I am employed by. Our Data Networking Division, has been shut out of a large installation we were undertaking at a Phychiatric Hospital, and all scheduled work in other facilities, has been put on hold for 10 weeks. The Regional Hospital Authority is one of our largest accounts.
I find it alarming both for medical reasons, and financial.

my parents have finally disowned me.. my dad called yesturday and told me to get the "dogs of my mothers back" about my upcoming wedding.. i told him that i havent put anyone on mum's back and if they are saying it, its because they want to and don't agree with what he and mum are doing.
i said that mum can speak for herself and he said that she and will and the next time you speak to your mother she will tell you that we dont want to ever speak to or see you again...".
at this point in the conversation i hung up the phone in his ear.

My wife's parents have cut us off, including 2 grandchildren 13 and 11. In facts it is our son's birthday today, but of course there will be no acknowledgement from them. This is now going on 3 years. Yet her father, an elder, had the audacity this last Saturday to visit good friends of ours to invite THEM to the Memorial.
