Hawk. thanks for the update. been wondering what was taking so long, and why we haven't heard from you for a while.
The Shelburne congregation has been continually praying deeply for Vicki to lose her case.
What a bunch of pond scum. WHY do they need to pray ? Are they not confident god will give them victory. What a bunch of misquided twits.......waste of skin, all of them.

Who should be voted off AMERICAN IDOL?
by morrisamb in.
thank god corey is gone (although he was booted, not voted off).. anyone watch today?
kimberley locke was simply amazing...reuben as well.... clay was great but played it safe...too bad joshua didn't...he was the worst singer tonight....it was painful to watch...disco is not his genre of singing.... i also liked carmen.. of the judges, i love simon's honesty.. reuben looks like a shoe-in for american idol finalist...i wish his competition was either kimgerly locke or clay

CJ and I watched our very first episode last night, because there was absolutely nothing else on, and the kids wanted to watch it.
What a total load of crap. That show is an atrocity. To have to be a contestant, and sit through that, never mind a viewer,......it was ludicrous.
The first contestant who was voted off, must have more talent than the producers of that show.
They are nothing but a bunch of scumbags.
Television has sunk to a new low. Made me want to puke.

OK JH Started it with the Celine Dion thread.
Let's talk about another Canadian Superstar, one who grew up not too far from where I live.
Q1. Would you go / have you gone to a Shania Twain concert ?
Q2. Is she really married. I mean I've never seen an interview with her husband Wolfgang Mutt or whatever, let alone a picture of the guy ! Sheesh, the guy is more elusive that Osama or Saddam !

CJ and I saw Celine in concert here at our community auditorium, shortly after she scored a hit with " Beauty and the Beast " . So I guess you could say it was before she was really, really famous. Her parents were there as well as her cradle robbing hubby
The first part of the show the music seemed to drown her out, but after intermission, they obviously made some adjustments, and that is when we realized just what an awesome singer she was. This auditorium only seats about 1500, and has excellant acoustics, and she sent chills down my spine.
Yeah her on stage performance is kinda lame, but man can she belt out a tune. I saw a VH1 program a month ago and it rated her as the number 1 diva. Not that I agree with THAT, but man can she belt out a tune. Not to mention....man can she belt out a tune.
Anyways this show.....had to be over 10 years ago, was very close up and intimate, no flashy dance numbers, etc. Just her and the band and her fans. Then she sang the Elvis Presley song " Can't Stop Falling in Love With You ". Awesome, just incredably awesome. ( no disrespect to Elvis fans LOL )
I would have to say it was the best concert by a solo artist I have ever been to, not that I get out to a lot of concerts. And when I see her interviewed now, she still manages to come across as genuine and sincere as she was back then.
I do think that if I had the opportunity to see her again in Las Vegas I would probably be very dissapointed though. Too commercialized, and too glitzy. Las Vegas has a nack for taking a great thing and turning it into a 3 ring circus.
Anyways...my 2 cents.

Wife and I had already faded. Lack of love in the congregation, blood issue over our son and his surgery, reading C of C ( Ray should have named it the " Real Truth " book ), etc, etc, etc.
I was at home one day, a Saturday I believe, and the TV in the livingroom was on, and I overheard the CNN Headline News newscaster say " Jehovah's Witnesses" , but by the time I zeroed in it was over. So I watched for the repeat, and sure enough within the hour it was back on. Just a short story, about how JW,s had changed their reasoning, and the " end was now fluid " ....I think was the expression used.
After talking with my dad, I compared how the WBTS had changed the wording of their " Mission Statement " on the inside of the cover of the AWAKE....November 8, issue I believe.
Pre 1995
Awake is for the enlightenment of the entire family. It shows how to cope with today's problems. It reports the news, tells about people in many lands, examines religion and science. But it does more. It probes beneath the surface and points to the real meaning behind current events, yet it stays politically neutral and does not exalt one race above another.
Most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure New Order before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.Post 1995:

Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things. The 1914 generation teaching had been quietly dumped. I took this as basically the WBTS was calling god a liar !
When 2 elders came by on a shepherding call some time later, I pointed this out to them. One elder was aware of it, but obviously they weren't talking much because the 2nd elder was flabbergasted.
That change in policy was the last nail in the coffin.
Thanks to Expatbrit for posting this info in a 2001 thread.
