The Bible says what it says, and doesn't say what it doesn't say.
Unless you believe any of it has merit, then you've got your work cut out for you.
.
here is a question, if "not one of them is missing" how does the org explain super nova's, the destruction of a star at the end of it's life cycle?
because by definition it is missing, i have never heard of any explanation from the org to explain this contradiction..

i heard from a "friend" that a letter was read aloud during the midweek meeting asking people to volunteer to do cleaning work in bethel.
lol.
i really can't think of anything else to say if this is true.. they get more free labor, and they still ask for more more more money!!
warning of a long boring post ahead.
i feel like i need to vent my story out, as i feel quite helpless at the moment.. i'm 31 year old, married, father of toddler with another one on the way, due later this month.
i've been serving as elder for about 4 years now in a south florida congregation.
Former elder of 14 years here Sanchy. I resigned in 2012. I'm the co-host of a new podcast called "JW Escape" and I still go to meetings. LOL Episode 2 will be uploaded in a couple weeks and it will deal with our issues of being "stuck" in the organization.
I'm still going to to meetings for my wife sake. I plan to shut down all theocratic activity toward the end of this summer/early fall.
I have no children, I'm not sure what the future of my marriage will be. I will not be living my golden years with a JW, I'd rather not those be sacrificed as well.
2016 will be my year, I wish you the best.
lurker since 2008 when i walked out as an elder ,had all the politics i could take ,noticed a few from my area so i finally joined
What's round on both ends and high in the middle?
Jennifer Lopez dude.
And welcome to JWC.
6/7. Quick pick on the last question got me. I knew I was wrong as soon as a clicked it.
4 years ago, I would have went 0/7, when I was an elder.
this is in response to the thread about the supposed suicide of a bethelite in 1995.. when i went to bethel i and everyone else, signed a form stating that "if we died while at bethel the wathtower bible and tract society, had the right to keep our body.".
yes, we thought it strange at the time but as a twenty years old you didn't think much about stuff like that.
besides we were never going to die anyway.
Can't remember the dude's name, but he was 20, fresh at Wallkill, and jumped off the "E" building, on the pool/concrete/longest drop side. June 1987, if I remember correctly.
He's buried at the "launching pad", the Wallkill Cemetery.
the so-called 10 commandments are a post-biblical construct.... there is an elohist list at exodus 20 and a yahwist one at exodus 34 that contains such gems as "you shall not cook a kid in its mother’s milk.".
any intelligent adult could create a more useful list of ethical precepts before the end of a coffee break.. it is interesting to compare the satanic temple's seven tenets.
i think you might agree that it makes yahweh's rules look like they were written by a bronze age power-hungry, misogynistic priest.
I love seeing people defending OT slavery. Too bad it's the same old idiotic and absurd tripe. I'm always looking for a new idea on rationalizing this abomination found in Scripture. I'll keep looking.
exploring the human genome is like roaming around an historic town.
some places are pristine and obviously still in everyday use.
others have been unused for a while and starting to show signs of decay and if you look carefully there are relics of buildings that were abandoned long ago.. in this post we are going to look at a gene that we still carry in every cell in our body but which fell into disuse 10s of millions of years ago.. humans are placental mammals.
One thing I plan to do if I ever am able to retire is take a college course on Biology. This stuff is so fascinating to me now. Couldn't care less when I was 14.
Thank you Cofty for the time and effort you put into this thread, you make JWC an interesting place to keep up with.
so i was thinking the other day that the wt corp has produced thousands of books over the years.
although the writers have changed the style is almost always the same.
however, some books are just worse than others.
today has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.
