I've been shunned from my sister's wedding

That's right you knew the consequences to your actions. So what did you think would happen? That they would disrespect Jehovah is order to associate with you. Not if they want to remain faithful to God. Boo hoo now you want to be part of the family and be at the wedding. Very convenient.

Your sister adds: "you felt a lot of resentment, and I can't say that I wouln't have done the same thing. But I wish you didn't, and I pray every night that one day you'll take it back, and come back to Jehovah!"

That's not brainwashing dude, she's talking to you from her heart. I can tell her faith is strong, but in the end she'll be better off on Jehovahs side instead of yours. You have nothing to offer her but death.

Your sister then says "It's just one of the unfortunate consequences of the step you took, the life you chose. "

That's right she's telling it to you as it is. Now I know what you and your apostate friends will say "she's just brainwashed, blah blah blah". The same old excuse to everything a Witness says but the truth of the matter is that she knows what the Bible says and what Jehovah expects from her. You could learn a thing or two from your sister.

My brush with the JW's

this last week, i did a short internship in a school system.

we had to do one home visit because the little girl we were going to see has been ill and has not been able to attend her early child program.

she is 3 and has a disease where half of her brain did not form and she does not have a pitutary gland.

I don't know many people that would be willing to adopt special needs children, so the work this couple is doing should be commendable. I agree with Quote that the literature does not necessarily mean that the couple are Witnesses. They could have just asked a local Witness for these copies, since it is by donation, then this couple could get the literature even if they don't have the money to pay for it.

Why shouldn't they be allowed to adopt 14 kids? If they can provide the love these children need, then more power to them.

I just know they are making him go to meetings and trying to get a kid like that to sit still. He prolly gets beat.

o.k., whatever. You didn't even think of asking the couple straigh out if they were Witnesses. And what the hell is the comment about beatings about? You just have a wild imagination or a sick one!

i heard this weekend that a convicted child abuser was murdered in jail.

i knew him but i don't remember his first name.

we were in the same congregation together for a few weeks.

At least you found some info on him. I've been surfing the net and not found anything on him. Did the information you found have what prison he was at?

I knew that I might have been off on some details since I was getting info from 3rd party sources. I know for a fact that he was a baptized Witness. At the time he confessed, he was engaged to be married to a regular pioneer sister. After his confession, the elders spoke with her about what he had done. She still decided to marry him. I was not sure on the sentence, although I had a feeling it was exagerated. His wife did call a local sister and told her that he had been murdered and that sister is her best friend so I don't think she would lie.

He started abusing his sisters when he was 17. His sister was 8, the other two were younger, but he would start abusing each one when they turned 8. In 1997, when he confessed, he was 24 or 25 years old.

Russel shurley could not have fortold this, what did he ever get right?

Russell knew he had Jehovah's backing and that above all the scriptures should be researched to learn the truth. He never said he knew it all. He got many things right. He knew the gentile times would end in 1914. He knew that God was not part of a trinity. He knew that Jehovah does not punish evildoers by burning in hell for eternity. That's just a few obvious examples.

I know that yoy have to defend the man who started your high controll group,

I don't have to, but I hate people that slander others.

If any other person had done the things that he did you would not have excused them.

Only if it was today and they had access to the truth.

But if you really think about it, how could sombody have such controll over a congregation numbering in the tens of thousands, and not have seriously intemidated his apposes from with in. Either that or he would ahve been able to persuade his opposers to submit to his authority, as simple as that.

That is some faulty reasoning. Look at the example of Jesus. Or how about the Bible account of Moses. Russell had excellent qualities that were very attractive to others. Humbleness was one of them.

Compared with those changes the Watchtower has remained remarkably constant, whether that's good or bad.

This person does not exist. It is a fabrication for some twisted purpose. No child molester has been murdered in a Texas Prision for the last six years.

Please do tell how you came to this conclusion.

This is a falsehood, that in this fictitious case the elders disfellowshipped someone for child abuse/molestation.

Actually, YoYo, I never got the impression that Russell was a humble man.

I'm sure you were around before 1916 to personally get that opinion or did you get it from your fellow lying slander spreading apostates?

Apostates, as defined by the WT, are not out to hurt their brothers.

Are you kidding me? That is the whole purpose of the apostates, to bring shame to their former brothers and sisters. That to me is hurting them.

I doubt he would be disfellowshipped as he was a humble man. He wouldn't have been stubborn and hard headed willing to follow his own agenda and hurting his brothers like apostates do.
