  Does the British museum know....

  in britian the bethal arranges tours of the british museum taken by bethelites on bible themes.. i have been on several myself and you get the impression that these tour and the information given are approved by the british museum.. but the british museum places the fall of jerusalem at 586/7 while the society puts it at 607.. is the museum management aware that in their very own building jehovahs witness are undermining the research and skills of the people involved in studying historical events?

  does it make sense for the museum to allow these tours to continue and to misinform people of historical events that have a great importance to jehovahs witnesses?.

  should someone be informing the museum of this or do you think they allready know and aren't to bothered?.

  Yes, I spoke to him personally. It was after Carl Olof Jonsson and Ray Franz had written their initial books. It's been about 15+ years, and I do not recall his name...but am sure I can find out if you wish. I do recall him commenting that he was receiving "dozens upon dozens" (his words) of correspondence and telephone calls monthly re this issue. My specific reason for telephoning him was to inquire if he could recall actually receiving a letter or call from someone calling on legitimate behalf of the WTBTS, inquiring about the time-line differences.

  Sleepy,

  Yes, the curator at the British Museum is well aware of JW time-line teachings re the Fall of Jerusalem. In fact, I wager he is probably somewhat tired of correspondence pertaining to this issue.

  Angharad, thank you for your explanation; I've never thought of it and it makes perfect sense. Yes, we will have our own JW guide, keep the rank-and-file from seeing the 'truth.'

  I can't think of a vege I don't like...love them all, even turnips.
  One preparation that I haven't seen mentioned is green beans with thinly-sliced almonds and lemon butter.
  Cook green beans in tons of lightly salted water until just tooth-tender, then drain and rinse w/ icy-cold water, melt butter and lightly saute almonds, then add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, then the green beans, and a dash of lemon-pepper. Yum.

  The trick to keeping the bright green color of any green vege, is the cooking in copeous amounts of water til tender, then the cold-water bath.

  But on the other hand, you can't beat a big mess of green beans, cooked 'khaki' colored with ham and potatoes, and of course, cornbread is mandatory!! Right fine eatin', summer or winter, imo.

  Naturally occuring nuclear reaction

  i know we are surrounded by them (ie.

  stars) but i was listening to the radio yesterday and was amazed to hear that there was evidence that a nuclear reaction had occured naturally on earth at some point.. apparently, all the conditions that are neccessary were there - water to slow the neutrons down, a deposit of uranium for fuel and carbon to prevent a 'meltdown' happening.. they said it was in south africa somewhere (not sure if the county or the continent).

  has anyone else heard of this?

  I came across info about these ancient nuclear reactions just last summer. Apparently there are six or so areas in Africa where they occured. Luddite than I am, I couldn't get my link posted - so I've sent you an e-mail to the link I found.

  Why don't you write a book 'praising' the Watchtower Society. OH, my, that's not possible is it, the Society wouldn't approve of your efforts...even if your intent was to praise them. Ah, well, just you'll just have to be content to hang around us ol' apostates.

  Geocaching...new hobby

  this is a fun activity and i suppose i'm the only one around here that does this.

  it involves a gps unit, the internet and good hiking shoes.

  you can find lots of info at www.geocaching.com and see if there are any caches in your area.

  I've never heard of this before, but checked the site and found more than a dozen caches listed for our area...and in some visually/physically appealing locations. So, I think it looks like fun, sort of an updated version of 'treasure hunt.' Will at least give it a try. Thanks for the info.

  Resignation - not that it matters at all, but ....

  i just wanted those kind-hearted, those gentle, those friendly ones of you to know that i wrote my letter of resignation as an elder yesterday, after having served in that capasity for 24 years.. those wishing to call me or any society "bastard", "sucker", "braindead" or anything, as they have before, i would ask please to refrain from that.

  other comments would be welcome.. somehow, it is the armstrong quote about "one small step for man, one giant leap for humankind" (approximately) the other way around, "one giant leap for (a) man, one hardly noticeable step for humankind".. ok, that was that.

  Yes, it truly does matter! I appreciate your letting us know and that you must have thought long and hard about making this decision.

  Eventually one comes to a crossroads where it is necessary to make the choice as to what road to take. I think you took the high road, Old Hippie. It may be rough at times, but will open up new avenues to explore and leave you better off for your future.
